The recipe for the blue/grey cloak would be greatly appreciated.

Those checks look like they could destroy the mind while painting them.

wow they\'re some nice regimented checks what\'s your method? (please don\'t say it\'s hours of painstaking swearing then detail and carefully covering up misshaps as mine is)

Purple (dark probably) for hte inside of the cloak? As you\'ve got the blue robes on one side, and the red checks on the other and those colours make purple it\'d probably be pleasing to the eye

How long did the Char take you so far?

Here\'s the cloak recipe:
Basecoat Space Wolves Grey,
Shade with Shadow Grey,
HL Space Wolves Grey + Skull White
HL Skull White

It\'s important to to very thin glazes with the Skull White for highlights, so it doesn\'t turn out grainy.

Checkered Pattern:

First I painted the cloak red:
Chaos Black + Scorched Brown basecoat
Highlight P3 Sanguine Base
HL Red Gore
HL Blood Red
HL Blood Red + Dwarf Flesh

Then I took some thinned down black and painted a grid on the cloak. When that was drawn, I filled in every other square with black. I touched up some of the red squares with the Blood Red and Dwarf Flesh mix, and then highlighted the black by adding in some Shadow Grey.

Hasn\'t taken too long yet. This is only 4 hours of work so far.

Got some more done on the character today. I sprayed it with some dullcote before taking the picture. I still need a little bit more practice taking photos of metallics. I also included a huge shot of the checkerboard pattern so you can see just how I did it.

Purple sounded nice for the inside of the cloak, but I had already started painting it black when I read your post!

Superb! I bet your hands will fall off soon with all the multi tasking you are doing between this and the eldar army, which is looking impressive by the way.

Looks good so far. I do like the thin film of gold you put on the border of the cloak; it really gives it a \'pop\'.

How do you plan on painting the shield? Are you going to mimic the cloak?

The shield will be the same as the cloak, either the two patterns on either side, or quartered. Haven\'t decided yet.

The trim was painted black first, then I used Scorched Brown, followed by Snakebite Leather, then Leprous Brown (old color, kind of an orange-is bubonic brown), then Bleached Bone and finally Skull White.

There is not much to say to your work other then that is is some of the best army painting I have ever seen. The old bretonninas are excellent models, quite historic even, and you give the the look they deserve. i am looking forward to seing what you will do with the knights. The foot knight looks breathtaking so far.

Here\'s the latest update. Keep in mind that the gold on the helmet is just basecoated, still have to highlight up to Burnished Gold and Mithril Silver.

I got some better photos of the metallics this time, I\'m much happier with it. Closer to how it is in person.

The shield was fun. Still got to do the gold on it. I liked painting the wood grain. That was done with black, Scorched Brown, Graveyard Earth, and Bleached Bone, followed by a very thin Snakebite Leather glaze.

He should be finished the next time I update. Then it will be time for some knights!
