Lookin\' sharp there Matt. I wouldn\'t worry too much about that eye, it could just be a natural deformity!

I\'m really excited to see you whip out the knights. If only I could get a few hours down to sit and paint my demons...

Thanks guys for the comments :)

Wow, nearly 20K views. Never thought this thread would be so popular! lol

The knight unit is just about there. Got 2 riders left to finish then they are good to go!

Here\'s the step-by-step horse that Arma requested, and hopefully some more of you can find it helpful too:

-White Undercoat-
Stage1.jpg

Stage 1: Basecoats. Scorched Brown, Chaos Black, Golden Yellow, Brazen Brass, dark metal mix (chaos + boltgun), Space Wolves Grey, Goblin Green. The tail was painted with a mix of Chaos Black and Codex Grey.
Stage2.jpg

Stage 2: Shades. Yellow was shaded with Vomit Brown, the horse, leather, and silver were washed with Badab Black, giving 3 washes to the tail. The gold was washed with Devlan Mud. Thraka Green was used on the little bit of grass by the hoof. Shadow Grey was thinned and shaded on the reins/headpiece.
Stage3.jpg

Stage 3: First highlights. Yellow was highlighted with Sunburst Yellow (couple thin layers). Black was highlighted by mixing in some Shadow Grey. Horse was highlighted with Scorched Brown. Leather was highlighted with Dark Flesh. Gold was highlighted with Shining Gold. Silver was re-highlighted with the boltgun mix. White + Space Wolves was used on the head. The hooves were painted with Scorched Brown (making grooves like when painting horns). Base was painted with glue, attached slate pieces, then patches of pebbles, then dipped the whole thing in fine sand.
Stage4.jpg

Stage 4: Final highlights. Skull White + Sunburst Yellow. Chaos Black with more Shadow Grey added. For the black leather on the saddle, Codex Grey was then edged on it. The silver was layered with Boltgun Metal then Mithril Silver. Gold was highlighted with Burnished Gold. The hooves were highlighted with Graveyard Earth. Vermin Brown was edged on the leather. Skull White was dotted in the corners of the eyes and on the teeth. Bestial Brown was added to the Scorched Brown for horse highlights, for a few consecutive layers.

EDIT: forgot to mention how I paint the base. Once the glue is dry, I paint it with brown ink. (GW doesn\'t sell this anymore, so I use the P3 brown ink). The sand absorbs it very well so it makes basecoating the bases a breeze. Then I drybrushed the sand with Bestial Brown, then Iyanden Darksun, then Bleached Bone. The rocks were based with Adeptus Battlegrey, then layered with Codex Grey, followed by Fortress Grey, then a Devlan Mud wash. Edge of the base was painted black, then I added patches of GW static grass.

Pictures of the finished grail knight unit will come on Monday.

Next up: 3x Pegasus Knights!! :)

Including assembly and priming between 1 and 2 hours. I haven\'t really timed myself on these guys though.

Absolute champion! Thanks man. It\'s nice to see the step by step when using such bold jumps in colour and contrast!

Many thanks :D

You\'re welcome, Arma. Glad I could be of help :)

Well, it\'s certainly been a while since I updated on the Grail Knights. I hoped to have them done on Monday, but this week was crazy. Had some important errands to do, then on Tuesday I was notified of a surprise test that would take place on Thursday. So rather than painting I had to spend that time studying. Don\'t you love tests? lol

I took lots and lots of images, but there\'s way too many to post here! I don\'t want to crash people\'s browsers lol

Now it\'s on to the Pegasus Knights. There\'s only 3 of them, so the next update should be fairly soon. Hopefully the end of the weekend.

Thanks for following the thread,

-Matt

After the pegasus knights? Lots! lol A few knight units, few dozen archers, questing knights, and a half dozen characters!

It will be down to the wire getting these done before Christmas, with school the way it\'s been. That\'s for sure!

Cheers everyone! I haven\'t slept all night, it\'s now 3:30 pm and I am going to crash. lol

Happy painting,

-Matt

beautifull as ever - my favorite is the sandcolored one on the right, just something about those colors that really click.

I totally agree, the whole unit owns, but this guy is the winner for me :) Especially drawn to the mane on the horse for some reason, it\'s a beauty!

Are you getting tired of tabards and flowing garments yet dude?
