Goodbye..

Here is Odin. He was born in my closet on March 29, 1996 about 11:00 am. So yesterday was his ninth birthday. Today, we had the vet put him to sleep because we could not pay to treat a recurring illness, which he probably wouldn\'t fully recover anyway.

I\'ll miss him...

My deepest and sincere condolences, Duende. What an awful decision to have to make. I\'m dreading when that time comes for my cat.

Anything smaller than him we bring into the house he will find a way to get it. Actually, he\'s taken out a few things bigger than him.

Thor, Loki, and Samantha (or Mantha for short)

We pulled those awful vertical blinds down and before I could get them out the door the cats laid down on them and wouldn\'t get off!

Okay, I posted out my dog to you (re. Post Your Pet), but it came back yesterday with bits hanging off it and it smelled terrible. I\'m assuming the dog probably got mangled on the way through the sorting machines at the PO and I imagine the shock killed it (if the incredible mangling didn\'t). As I was only following your wishes on this thread, it is to you that I look for compensation, both for the death of my dog and bail for getting me out of prison.

@Rev - I cannot be held accountable for the rough handling of any \"posts\" by the mail service. Next time you might want to package him in a bigger box with better cushioning. Feel free to take up this matter with whatever packaging company you used. Also, I cannot be held liable for bail - that\'s what spouses/significant others are for. :p

If you ever make it to Atlanta, though, I will buy you a beer! :D

Sometimes it is for the best, remember when a beloved animal is ailing or in pain, letting them go is a blessing to them.

To be honest..I couldn\'t give a toss about human suffering, but I share your grief over Odin.

It\'s never easy with animals as, their total care is in our hands. Hope the pain diminishes soon.:)

My sympathies, Duende. We had to put one of our cats down about six months ago, and it is indeed one of the hardest things to do. Unfortunately, there wasn\'t much we could do since she had kidney failure--either spend lots of money for intensive care, from which she probably wouldn\'t recover anyway, or end her suffering.

Of course, me and my darling cried like crazy for a couple of days, and still sob every now and then.

It\'s funny how attached we get to these little critters.

I\'d have sworn that was a champagne poodle if you\'d not said he was a cross, airhead. That poodle arrogance is there in full swing already. Every male poodle we\'ve had (all silver-grey) has been an arrogant little swine, an attitude that is inversely proportional to physical size. Damnably cute though. :)

Do it anyway as you\'ll save your neighbours the grief of leaping dogs landing in their garden. (Been there done that with a Red Setter happily hopping over a fence as if it were a twig!. Especially when the snow was down and untouched. Foolish mutt loved to make a mess in the pristine snow. Used to try to catch snowflakes as well. )

Yup, I\'m thinking we need to be extra careful, as he\'s a Chow/Malamute mix...both dogs are diggers.

I\'m just glad our little Shih Tzu is able to fight for himself as Jake tends to tower over him. Still waiting for one of our cats to give him a nasty swipe on the nose...:p
