Salute 2010

Anybody who knows if Forgeworld will be selling their limited models at Salute or if these are only available at Games Day?

I´m thinking of the Runtbot, skwadron commander and Krieg Rider.
They will be having the show only models there but will probably limit the number each person can buy.

On the down side it is looking bad for me getting there as I am still stuck in Singapore at this rate I am thinking of going to Australia or the Philipenes for a while in the hope that when I get back the situation will be better.

Granddad!
I have my map all planned out with lists of stalls + what to buy at each XD CAnnaE WaiT after the Paris fiasco !!
Me too!
Well I've got my map, and a list of traders, but I've got nothing planned on what to buy, whatever takes my fancy at the time. I sold some paints to my mate so I'll have some decent spending money this time

Does anyone have pictures from the convention? I'm interested particularly in Studio McVey's May releases, but I'd love to ogle any other eye candy people have to share.

Both of the McVey new releases are to die for, Ar-Fienel is my favourite and there is a photo of her on the WAMP front page. Y'Sala and Darkness is the other new release they sprung at the show is is also a very nice model Y'Sala is a dark elf cunjuring a dragon, damn she is going to be a challenge to paint the amount of detail is just jaw dropping and she is tiny compared to a lot of figures.

Tim, I bumped into Mick at the show he was wearing a CMoN name badge so you probably missed him...

How was attendance this year? I know a couple of exhibitors cancelled at the last minute due to the travel chaos, but were there enough locals to make up the difference?

Kabuki was missing, and a couple of other traders. The queues to get in had their own room, but they moved fast enough when they opened the doors.

There was some great stuff on sale, lovely to see Kraken, Kingdom Death and Studio McVey as well as new stuff from Mantic and the infamous Heresy Dragon!

Lovely to meet Tim and Mick again, albeit briefly as well as those of you I have met before (ok, so I've met Mick before too!).

I bought lots of mini natur sticky tufts, flowers and ivy - yum!

so many tufts and flowers!!

@chern, tbh the ones that couldn't make it weren't that noticeable, although there was a distinct lack of model colour

Overall I'd say that the show was on a par with the last few years in terms of traders/exhibitors.
Punter attendance.....well that was a differing matter as the "Q" Buster ticket was extermely large, streching a good 100 - 200 metres and into another hall where it doubled and tripled back on itself a few times.
I'd suggest that trade was pretty good in most cases, especially "Boutique" traders like the McVey's and Smart Max where quality of product stands out.
As always there were traders there doing a "roaring trade" for army deals, the likes of Warlord etc
Forgeworld as always did good trade, running out of both the show figure and the pre-release of Warhammer Ancients Version 2.

As for me well I had "cherry picked" what I wanted prior to the show, and was very 'cautious money wise" until I spoke to Ali McVey who fluttered her eyes, smiled and very kindly and incredibly quickly emptied my wallet. Such a temptress....Thank you so very very very much Ali. I owe you a Large Coffee(*) if you get to IMP.

Definitley for me Value for Money and I have to flag for special attention the customer consideration shown by several traders, Black Scorpion, Smart Max, Alkemy, Hasslefree, Heresy, Freebooter, Wayland Games (who looked exhausted at the end of the show) and Sphere Wars. They get special mention for the treatment they provided to Tim (freakinacage) holding a really nice "Gribbly not-so-Mini" to one side while I held his shopping bag as he sprinted (no joke) to the ATM to get additional cash to pay for it.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Boristfrog WAS in Girl clothes, for a very special reason............It was her Birthday.

(* every time I meet Ali she's always running on high levels of Caffine, while Mike is just sooo laid back.)

It was a fantastic day, I bought almost my own weight in minis. Congrats to those that won stuff and it was great meeting up with people again. I don't know why people stay in the queue to get in. Once you have your hand and ticket stamped you don't need to stand there. We just bimbled off for coffee and waited til the doors opened.

The high point for me was in the car on the way back when, leafing through my copy of WAB2, I noticed a couple of the minis I painted for Warlord in the showcase section and my name listed on the credits page. I'm going to be insuferable for weeks :sinister:

It was a pleasure as always.

And thank you for holding my swag!

I really enjoyed the day, I very briefly met Borisfrog and Dragonsreach, but I was mainly just wandering around saking up the atmosphere and buying minis. I never realised it was Becca's birthday so a belated happy birthday from me.
