Seattle Area Painters

So, since I have nothing better to do, I thought I\'d post a stupid topic just to find out how many people would be interested in meeting up to drink coffee and BS.

Of course, it would help if you\'re in the Seattle area. ;)

So far, myself and Equus and (hopefully) Drake Farstrider are planning to meet up on Saturday 3/26 for some coffee and BS about painting. We\'re planning to meet up near the Northgate area, in a little shop called Fire and Sword. Here\'s their info:

Fire and Sword Hobbies
(206) 361-5574
540 NE Northgate Way
Seattle, WA 98125

Of course, I\'d be up for making other meeting times, perhaps even a semi-regular event, at least until real life gives me a job and I have no time again. ;)

unfortunately, i work saturday afternoon, and have copious plans for that evening, but i;d likely be interested in future hangin\' out sessions should anything take place.

nice idea. :)

Hey Anthony I may be able to make it, but it depends of when my D&D game ends. Right now I am thinking around 2pm, So I may be able to make it for a short time, I have to work at 5 and Northgate is a bit of a drive for me.

Who knows? Maybe the weather will hold and we can sit outside and inhale the primer fumes from F&S wafting in the wind. :D

\'Course my ulterior motive for meeting there was that I plan on going there anywhere to hopefully sell my black dragon...heh.

I\'m down with the idea of something sem-regular too. It\'ll give me a good chance to bring some of my stuff and get direct feedback. Unfortunately, I don\'t think the Bloodthirster will arrive by this weekend. :~(

@ Drake - Ya know, the funny thing is I think I have a D&D game in the evening after hanging out. Guess with the type of people we have in the community, shouldn\'t be much of a surprise though.

I might be able to do something on a semi regular basis as well, It would have to depend on what time and day.

@ Equus - I am not suprised at all, there was a thread a while back that asked what was everybodies fav game.

Indeed, not surprising that all of us have what appear to be regularly scheduled games (though you two losers are playing D&D ;)).

I think trying to make a semi-regular thing is a great idea. I\'ll see if I can find a regular place where we could conceivably paint for a couple of hours (without a bunch of people gawking, and with good lighting--which is to say, not a game store).

On that note, what days would work best for everyone, and how often would you want to meet up?

Like I said Sunday\'s are the best for me, although I may be able to do something on every other Tuesday night.

Hey now there is nothing wrong with D&D, Mr. Savage Worlds. :D

Well, I used to be in a long running Warhammer FRPG and a Vampire Dark Ages game. Also used to run Mage a lot, but haven\'t recently. The next game I run is going to be L5R when they get the new edition out. Mmmmm. Choppy choppy katana goodness! D&D I usually play and run when I really don\'t want to think that hard. :D

As for places to meet...umm...I\'ll see if I can think of anything too. I do have a friend who owns a comic/game store in the U-District, and I know it\'s usually pretty slow on Sundays. Not as much of the gawkers since he really doesn\'t do miniatures, but probably would still get out fair share. The positive side is that if we go there we might be able to scrounge up some free Warmachine stuff. :)

Saturday and Sundays during the day are almost always good for me. Most things I do on the weekend don\'t start until dinner or after. During the week I\'m stuck up in Bothell until 5ish. I think maybe once a month or something like that would be doable. Enough space of time so we can work on some of our own projects to bring in and get critiqued.

As for Saturday, I\'m planning on heading over to F&S around 2ish. I\'ll be the short Asian guy wearing a Evangelion NERV t-shirt. Holler \"Ethan\" at me, since if you yell \"Equus\" you might get weird looks if anyone actually knows that play. :p

FREE WARMACHINE STUFF?!! Dood, I\'d be all over that... ;) Would that be the Dreaming, by any chance?

I was also thinking that MSG (Metro Seattle Gamers) might be an option, but I don\'t know about paying a daily fee (granted, it\'s only a couple of bucks, but still).

I shouldn\'t be too hard to spot. Drake (Jeremy?) knows what I look like, and vice versa, so we shouldn\'t have any problems if he makes it up. Just look for a long-haired dude with a goatee who is disparaging all the GW stuff. ;) If in doubt, just call out Anthony.

Will do Ethan, I will try to make it. If I can I will be there around 2:30. If you want bring some mini\'s I should have some with me as well.

DINGDINGDINGDING! We have a winner! :)

Yeah...my friend Aron is the guy that runs that place. I used to work with him back in the ol\' WotC days. The possible free Warmachine would be if we can hit up another of my old psychotic compatriots from Lizards on the Toast days. I guess Jason has been doing the development for Privateer on Warmachine. Haven\'t ever actually tried hitting him up for minis, but I do know when I was unemployed and Privateer was looking for people to help out at their warehouse, they were going to pay mostly with product. (/end shameless name-dropping ^_^)

I can bring the two minis I\'m working on right now. Dunno if I want to paint over at F&S, but it would be good to have you all take a look at \'em and give advice. Too bad I already gave my friend back the converted Night Lords champion that I painted for him, but I wasn\'t really thrilled with his paint job anyways. :p

Hmm... oh yeah, minis. I should bring some of those. ;)

Geez, Jeremy, you shot past me in post count. Guess I\'ve been slacking... ;)

To the other Seattle-area peeps:

So far, we have people in the following areas:

Me: Eastlake
Equus (Ethan): Northgate-ish
Drake (Jeremy): White Center/Burien (correct?)

Where is everyone else? I\'d like to find a place that\'s kind of central to everyone that\'s interested in doing the bi-weekly or monthly (probably monthly) meet-up.

Hell, I know Aron and Jason. Used to hang out with Jason and Ducky back when Games and Gizmos was still around (this was before Jason started at WotC, and well before PP). I haven\'t talked to Jason in like 6 years, though, so who knows if he\'d remember me. Haven\'t heard squat from Ducky, either.

I\'m in Cap Hill, so fairly central to most places.

Iwork until 3 on weekends, and generally have Mon/Tues off, but it rotates every 2 months or so.

When ever it ends up, I\'ll try and make it if I can, but certainly schedule around the majority. :)

Hahaha...oh that\'s funny. Small world. But I guess where Aron is concerned, the world ain\'t all that small. Wonder if I\'ve ever run into you while hanging with them? Long-haired folks with goatees who disparage GW describe a lot of people I know. lol

I just ran into J a few weeks ago at Aron\'s shop actually, and if I do end up going to crash room parties at NorwesCon, I\'d probably end up seeing him at the Catalyst Studios party. As for Ducky, I think I saw him a month or two back as well at Aron\'s shop. He had moved in to help out his mom (or for his mom to help him out, I\'m never entirely sure), but just recently moved back. Other than that, I have no clue what he\'s up to.

Cap Hill...hrmm...nope, still can\'t think of anything. \'Course I\'ve been out of the gaming community for so long, I have no idea what\'s around anymore.

I know Aron as well, he used to be a customer of mine when I ran Wonderwolrd books in the U-district. It has been probably 7 years since I have seen him, so I would not be shocked if he remembers me.

Yeah Anthony, I live in Burien about 5 minutes from the airport. I am not sure if I know Jason, but anything is posssible.

As for the posts whats up, I passed you a while ago.

Shameless plug, please go over to this thread and vote on my new mini. Please!
