DE like to take the time to say something that I firmly believe in...miniature painting is great for several reasons .first and foremost as artists we get to create something that is unique to each and everyone of us...now I Def feel there are no styles better than others and that brings me to my second point, each artist brings something very different to this hobby some use a cartoon style some use a realistic style and this is further broken down again for example some use a dark and ominous realistic style on the reverse some use a very colorful comic book style .my point is each one of us brings a diff type of magic to each model we paint.and all the styles are fantastik in there own right.take john branches unique style versus Joe tomaszewskis clear clean bright style..some of us use tmm some of us pride themselves on the technically perfect nmm.either or pick your poison now, when it comes to competition we have all seen each of these win diff categories for example in GOLDEN DEMON.my point ,whatever your style ,for you to win your style must showcase a specific model in comparison to another artists style.again none are better or worse, the key however is to "pick a subject matter or model, that showcases your painting style and skills and shows them off well.example crystal brush baily gave me an idea of either 3 barbarians and or 3 gladiators either of the two can showcase the weather and battle worn shape of the garments ,hair etc.so in the end if your going to place you entries in a painting competition pick a model that will lend itself to the skillset your adept at.
Stay tuned today I'll try to finish the shoes and plume and maybe the basework.
