Magic of Christmas left you with a fun project that I can't wait to see you start. Especially after zombie girl. Which is one of my favorites if I have said so already. Going to vote now. Also I still want some of those books you made . keep up the great work. Always a joy to see.

Canny, thanks! Struggling with the base a bit, actually, I really need to look up some tutorials on painting stone.

I had a huge break throught when I found Iguazzu's website its got some good tutorials and colour choices. The stone tute is awesome but its for slate type rather than paving, should be able to adapt it and modify.

That's a handy tut, thanks Canny. The biggest issue I'm having is that there's not a lot of texture on the stone, so drybrushing doesn't do much, BUT I'm making progress--gotta post the base later.

Librarian on a stick! Still lots to do, but I'm surprisingly happy with the color of her dress.

I really like the purple. Great placement of highlights and shadows too. All those folds in the cloth aren't easy.

Aaand this evening's work on the cloak (here's hoping I still like it in the morning and haven't just bunked up a couple days' worth of work):

Wow! Nice work on the base! Pulling those purple tones down into it will really tie it all together. Also the pattern on the cloak: A touch of subtle brilliance

That is an amazing looking cloak! Beautiful work. I have not tried that technique yet but I want to try. The base is working well too, sneaking the colour in to the base magic!

Just Fantastic work!! That first black stone plinth base is just perfect...I wish I can get my hands on something like that! I'm sorry if this question has already been asked but I'm assuming that base was DIY?

I want THOSE stairs in MY house. Painted a perfect scene there in my opinion. Tells a story without the mini. Also that detail work on the cloak. I would of missed it if I didn't see it in person but some more amazing work from you. PAINT MORE NOW PLEASE.

Thanks guys, I think the cloak's a keeper, just gotta do some cleanup on the freehand. I still have more fiddling to do with the base before I'll be satisfied. Still not really happy with the look of the stone. Kinda digging stippling, though!

Perbius: actually, the only thing I did to the base was add the books and pages. The stairs are a resin display base from Secret Weapon. The books are balsa wood and paper, just like these that I'll be sending off to Digganob:



Digga, if I thought could pull off a "must paint minis for medical reasons" doctor's note at work...

Oh and that face tuck inside a hood I feel your pain, I just did a face inside a full face helmet and it's not an easy task. The cloak looks awesome!

Oh and if you'r looking for ways of doing texture on your stone you can always try the sponge technique, with a small piece of foam (inside a blister pack or something) you can dip the sponge into your paint, remove the excess and then gently press with the sponge until you get what you want, it will leave a nice texture like stone. I use a old brush that i cut the ferule off and i can super glued a small piece of foam on the brush and voila you have a sponge brush.

It's hard to see on those pictures I took 2 years ago but it can give you an idea,

I did those crypts for my Vampire counts (tabletop standard) and I used the sponge technique.
