The banner is excellent! I'm particularly impressed with how you've managed to get it so dark & moody but at the same time the design is crystal clear and the colours are vibrant! Good luck at Dukes of Bavaria.

^^^Next level stuff^^^

And yet, others of us ( yours truly) should be considered as the fecal-slinging monkeys that most of you kids go to see on your class trips to the zoo.

HOO HOO HAAA HAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! *eats his sable brush

Hey all :) Skel, that banner is fantastic, as folks have said already. I've never had the skill to freehand anything, much less a complex thing like a skaven or similar. Very awe inspiring. It's also really quite uplifting to see that lots of folks here have the same child-raising paint complications I do. I put my 2yo to bed every night, and it's usually between 8 and 9 before he drops off. I'm juuuust getting started on getting the 7mo into a sleeping rhythm, altho he's getting better. Anyway, by the time I get back downstairs and have made my lunch for the next day it's past 10pm, and it's hard to summon up the painting mojo. It feels good to read I ain't alone with my trials and tribulations. Still - kids are great, eh :) The 2yo got into my hobby room the other day but did nothing more destructive than pick up my Eldar falcon and run round the room with it, making "buuuuuuuuuu" noises and saying "hikoki!" (Airplane!)
Well, we'd all do that if we thought we could get away with it :D

Keep up the inspiration, Skel and co. :)

Not seen you for some time on the forum you all right? Surviving the 7 mo? My little one is no longer so little 18 months and sort of sleeping through. He also grabs my unpainted minis in their boxes as he can now open all the child safety locks. He does a hulk smash with great glee on his face chewing and generally destroying. Ah children wonderful things. :)

Aye, I'm doing fine. Just busy as all hell with work and kids (and started uni this year, too.) painting time has reduced to almost nil, but I'm managing to bang out gaming level stuff for my 40k corsair army. I've been lurking here, too - just haven't really had time to properly write stuff. Ta for asking, though :)

Back from the dead...

been a while, i have been taking care of junior since i came home from germany, he got a really bad stomach bug and puked for two days and then completely knocked in fever, i dont think he ever been that bad poor guy. very nice to come home to after a tiresome journey... thankyouverymuch! anyway he is more or less ok now and should be back to kindergarten today.

anyway to continue the bad news, one of my miniatures broke at the security control at the airport, they went bananas with my backpack (never happened before) and scanned it 3 times, then asked me to open the bag, took all the boxes containing minis and scanned them one more time. THEN asked me to open all the boxes. bloody hell! lets just say they were far from gently and i am honestly surprised that nothing else broke. to sum it up, primus death is officially dead in more than one way. some serious chipping of the paint and i am not certain i will ever repair the guy. another thing is that i will probably never paint a metal miniature again, as the only miniatures i had broken has been in metal, i have never broken a single plastic/resin mini that hasnt been easily repaired.

ok for the good news, the trip to germany for the dukes of bavaria show was awesome, lots of cool people and the standard of the competition was indeed very high, with the exception to euromilitaire probably the show with highest standard ive been to. in the end i took a silver in master painting fantasy and a silver in master painting (historical). pretty pleased with that!

so, not been able to paint much, but ive done some changes to the rat, probably not visible in this picture but oh well...

the left hand holding a empire guy has been removed as it made him really unbalanced. instead he is going to hold the banner as i posted before. i have to do some work on the base also, so far ive done a small waterfall just under his feet but i guess more work with vegetation has to be added to make it look really good. it is still not a mini i am really happy with. dunno. the front side is really sweet but the other side, knocked with warpstones makes the mini a mess in my opinion.

Congrats on the silvers. As for the vermin lord if you just send him to me as is I will be happy for the both of us till the end of time. ;)
seriously though if you put him on the table in a game vs me I would straight up concede due to its sheer awesomeness.

I know its probably WAY back in the thread somewhere but is there an unpainted picture of the lord of vermin base anywhere? its stunning just want to work out how you did it. possibly the best freehand work i've seen work in progress pictures too.

Yeah, you feel like you're fingerpainting. I feel like the kid sitting in the corner eating glue. :/

Made me lol Finn! I remember we had a kid in our art class who was drawing better than I can now at age 13 lol. These people are the providers of much eye candy though!!!
