Something new and quite unusual from me

Who would have thought I\'d ever paint a Space Marine.

Looks well done, the only thing i dont think goes well is the red.

Edit

I can\'t say really, it just doesnt work well in my eyes with the rest of the model.

The quality of your paintwork is as always undeniable.
However the Red has gone Pink, and looks somewhat less than the Uber Masculine we\'d expect of a Space Marine.

If you want to try another Spacemarine why not try one of the Emperors Champion figures. I have no doubt that you\'ll make him shine.

That red is awesome! Unfortunately I don\'t think it suits the model somehow. If you had painted a blood angel in that red colour it would have been a straight 10. Flawless (Im going to get flamed for saying this :D) I say flawless NMM. I would rate a 9 because the blue doesn\'t do the magnificent red justice :D

Aha, this is interesting. Yes, the red does indeed have a pinkish hue to it, but that\'s how I intended it, so as you might guess, I like it this way. Again, there seems to be the question of personal taste, I guess! :)

Actually, I like the red (and the rest of the mini). The only thing that I find ... puzzling ... is the gun barrels. I would have seen them metalic (NMM) instead of red.

As an after thought, the base could be a tad bit tider.

Other than that, nice Marine Margo :)!

Yep, I know now they should have been metallic. I am, however, so ignorant when it comes to Space Marines, that it never occured to me while I was painting. Also, it turned out that the things glued to his forehead should have been metal as well, and I thought I could paint them as gems :)

Personally I don\'t see any problem with the things in his forehead being gems, or with the barrels being Painted instead of Metal.
Let\'s face it he\'s not exactly a real person, so Margo\'s selection of colours is in no way wrong. :D

Hey, I think for a first Marine he turned out really well! I know when you paint something different from your norm, it takes a little work to get into the gist of it.

I\'m not all that familiar with Marine fluff myself, but the gun and backpack do look like he stole them from another Chapter. I think if they had a little less red and some matching blue points to tie them into the rest of the armor, it would appear more... (dang, I can\'t think of the word).... it would bring it all together as a whole better.

But excellent job, it\'s still 100x better than anything I could do with a marine. :D

Yes, I\'m a Margo fangirl!

the colour of the backpack and gun is fine being red, but the fact that the details (such as the gun barrell, backpack vents, trigger and handle, mechanicle bits of gun etc) are painted red too (albeit beautifully!) is very off putting and IMVHO looks so wrong!

The Gems are nice, and well done as they are sooo teensy!

If you have the time to pick out the details on the weapon and backpack then it would really improve the piece.Red is good, and reminds me of oldschool \'Eavy metal style guns, but only really works on the casing not all over.

Hope this helps, if not look at some other space marines to see what I mean.

Yeah that hit the nail on the head for me.It\'s not the red thats the problem - it\'s that it is ALL red. Pick out the skull, the barrel, the exhaust ports etc and it wont seem to much.

Thanks for the feedback!

The thing is, though, I am not going to change anything now as I am happy with the results.

now, that I\'ve stopped drooling and my eyes have once again turned back from the inside of my head, I have a short question, one I always seems to ask :D:

what colors did you use for the NMM (both gold and silver), it looks great.

Oh, and btw, I dont see whats wrong woth the red, I think it fits perfectly with the blu, they\'ve got the same depth and highlights (if anyone understand what I mean)???

Most of my scores are the result of personal taste... most people prefer well painted minis lol

I\'ll chime in with everything else. The only shock is the red gun parts. Even the \"less gritty, more gemmed\" look is kind of cool. You could make your own Space Marine chapter... the \"Emperor\'s Jewelers.\"

Silver: Chaos Black, Fortress Grey, Enchanted Blue (a tiny drop) and Skull White.

Gold: Scorched Brown, Snakebite Leather, Bubonic Brown, Skull White.

And thanks!

Really nice blends and colors. I suspect details like the studs being silver or gold metal on the gun and backpack and the skulls too would take it to the next level!

Very nice however :) The teenie script work ont eh seal is a nice touch too! I love the skintones you achieved. What colors for his face if you don\'t mind me asking?
