Something new and quite unusual from me

Honestly, I don\'t think so. I think it would have been the very same level. I mean, this miniature is so heavily packed with detail -- I am somewhat surprised at so many coments point out there is too much red.

As for the face, I used Scorched Brown, Graveyard Earth, Elf Flesh, Skull White.

Thanks for those colors :)

Yeah, about the details, I am just a nut for that sort of thing. The longer I can stare at a mini and pick out new things, the better, but you are likely right. There is enough already on him!

Exactly; and the thing is, it would have been no problem for me to introduce a few more colors, but I didn\'t do it -- intentionally -- because the skulpt itself is looking quite busy with detail.

Obviously working with blue as your main color must be your favorite.

You do that color as good as anybody....

Is that a conscious choice on your part, or do you just like blue?

I don\'t know, really. I can\'t say blue is my favorite color, but for some reason, I really enjoy the highlighting process with blues.

I quite like the red...I agree it looks kinda strange, but its very well done. It looks a little like his backpack and gun are made from red glass...

And I love your NMM...I\'m working on a test scheme for my emperors champion, and the way you\'ve done the shoulder pads and skulls have just let me know that what I\'m working towards is gonna look good! (hopefully)

Strange I always like painting with Blue too I think it\'s probably just one of those colours that has nice easily achievable stages in it..

Lovely style not my taste but technically beautiful work..

My own taste for marines is the darker grittier battle damaged to high hell fighting in the dirtiest darkest most dangerous regions of space not having a chnace to catch their breath let alone clean their armour.

TheGems are a beautiful touch and really work and just perfectly done so Rich.

The back pack and Gun..I think enough has been said. Just the vents and the Gun barrel for me done silver would frae the colour a little more if ya know wat I mean. I love the way the Red is painted on the gun really nice and the gold and Blue great..I agree with Mike you should paint an emperors champion...that would look cool. I have spare ones if you ever want to give one a try.

keep up the cracking work something new is something learned I say...

Well thats interesting...
I didn\'t really get into the red and liked the blue..Then i shifted to the red and ignored the blue..then..Bleh, i\'m confused

as for the red gun that DID grow on me, the gems instead of studs; I could kick myself for not thinking of that interpritation first lol
I like it, like it a lot. nice :)

Don\'t go making a habit of it or anything lol Most Space Marine models deserve exactly the three-colour paint jobs they get.

Can so many people be wrong?

Without the barrels picked out etc, it kind of looks like a jelly baby gun and backpack.

Even the example posted by Airhead shows the site and barrel in black.

I am sorry to keep going on about it but I would rather give honest feedback than just massage your ego. As it stands the mini would get an 8.5 - 9 rating from me (still great and a fair reflection on the painting)because IMO the gun and backpack look wrong. Had the detail been picked out and the jellybaiieness broken up then this would probably have got a 10 from me.

I feel like a right hypocrite saying this as you are by far a greater artist than I am, but if it looks and feels wrong, then no matter how well it is painted, I will vote and comment accordingly.

I have to agree though, its a superb mini full of detail, and you have inspired me to get round to painting mine.

Hmm, I have to say the shading and the blending looks soo good it almost looks fake....BUT thats just because I\'ve been painting a long time and cant get anywhere near that...LMAO. Ohh well.. The gun and the back pack are certainly nice, and are obviously open to a fair amount of interpretation since you do not paint/play 40K..no worries... very nice. I think the Red does look a little odd since I\'m not used to seeing it with a white highlight. If you did play/ collect the bolter is supposed to be the double barrel variety storm bolter. But its all good after all its just fantasy. Hey and thanks for listing the colors used its always nice to see what they actually where, as opposed to digging out 50 shades and guessing at how you did that. Interesting color choices.. wonderful paint job, and great imagination.

Have you even seen a real combat weapon? By and large today they tend to be all one color - all matte black (which with time wears to a slightly different sheen on the parts due to the different metals used in them) - from butt plate to barrel - yes, I\'ve seen IW\'s that the Brits use that have OD components on the black, but most of the M16\'s, M240\'s, M249\'s, and M60\'s I\'ve seen are one basic color - Black. So an all red weapon works for me. And as for the shot airhead posted its prolly some after market parts on a standard barrel reciever package.
