Stupidest thing you\'ve done whilst painting

Well, Ive spilt a few pots in my time, but this has got to be the worst/funniest thing I have ever done whilst painting..

At some point whilst painting earlier I must have put my hand on some black paint, then, whilst not concentrating \"rearranged myself\" down below. A few hours later I go to relive myself and find a massive black line, from belly button to round abouts you know where.. I\'m just glad no one else saw :p

LMFAO! I dont know how I could top that one, but back when I started painting, i\'d hold my minis directly over my paints, and on at least one occasion, as im doing eyes or some other detail work I slip, drop, down into the paint below.

yeah, that doesnt come close to striping your pecker.

:rolleyes:What! no pictures?

I’ve learned the hard way to open paint bottles carefully and check my hands before picking up an almost finished mini........:cussing:

Demon herald, why use a brush for super glue? it\'s far cheaper to use a piece of brass rod, and offers as much control.
just have an old blister pack handy that you can put the super glue into, and your away.

Well not painting, but in the construction phase of a Space Marine Predator I was sculpting green stuff on the turret and was impatient for it to cure so I put it in my putty cooker that I use for sculpting to speed cure the putty. When I looked 30 min later the plastic turret melted into a warped bloated ball shape.

It became a Rhino..

Spend 8 hours or so carefully blending nmm blades and armor until it\'s done then thinking \"hey this would look great rusted up, let me try a new effect of sponging on the rust for texture\" and then completely ruining the paint work and having to strip the mini and start over since you now have texture on the piece that you can\'t simply paint over.

Nah always used the brushes where I need it.. The day I run out of old brushes I may change my ways .. do use brass rod or any other tool at hand at times but prefer the brush approach when the piece is already painted.

I\'ve done that before too, but always noticed before spraying. That\'s one advantage to always shooting a spurt off to the side to make sure there are no clogs.

ROFL Good one!

I\'m trying to remember, most of my real \"Goddamn it sonofabitch!!!!\" moments have come during construction or building (like dropping a bust I\'d sculpted onto the table, where it bounced off, hitting the edge of the wastebasket before hitting the just-emptied bottom of said wastebasket; I think it broke in three places and I\'d just finished it).

I think I glued my elbow to the table with paint one time, after dipping it in the palette a short while before but hey, everyone\'s done that :D I have had some painting cockups, like anyone, but none I can think of were down to sheer stupidity.

Once I was working on a miniature I thought I was doing a very good job on at the time, but I spilled some superglue or something my brush ended in it, painted on the miniature -> ruined part on the miniature, ruined brush :(

I also once almost put superglue in my eye. the following 3 days i had a massive line of superglue beneath my eye and it hurted like hell to get my eyelashes free of glue again.

Ahhhgh that sounds rough! Im always pretty careful with Super glue especially around the eyes :p. Maybe you need to hold the mini further away from you ;)

Worst I have done that I can think of is either best brush in fresh Superglue or tipping one pot of ink bending over to pick it up and tipping another :( They were Flesh wash and chestnut ink (now no longer available, boo hoo) and stained my new expensive shorts!!!

I\'ve superglued my tongue to my teeth a few too many times!

I also have a dreadful habit of dropping nearly finished minis over my palette. It is a miracle that virtually none of them have ended up covered in paint.

yeahdone that one with Black ,.... also had a crappy can of varnish and spent about 3 minutes shaking my good can had a sip of tea and proceeded to spray my comp piece with the crapy one which promptlyturned white and lumpy.

Hmmm, apart for dropping a few minis, I once drank paint water that I was using to clean brushes in. Without looking I was reaching for a class of soda which was next to the cup of paint water. Although I guess it sounds worse than it is. All in all it wasn\'t that bad. :p

One of my worst accidents with minis were some infinity minis, which I had pinned to new bases. I put them on a hard wood plate for priming. I went to the window, primed then and put the board down. Suddenly a strong windblow came and blew all the minis down (2nd floor!). They sticked still to the bases but were heavily scratched or broken. :cussing:

My other accident: I stripped some minis off their paint in a jar with acetone. When I wanted to pick the minis out I could\'t get through the hole with my hands, so I picked a long balsawood stick. While trying to balance the minis one by one to the opening with pressing the mini between stick and jar wall, the wood stick suddenly slipped down from the mini against the jar, sputtering aceton directly in my eyes. It burned like hell and I ran to the bathroom, cleaning my eyes for at least half an hour with warm water. Was red-eyed for two more days. Always use your googles!!

Ive done that, Ive got thorvin from enigma stuck in my gutter... I left him on the window after priming and the wind blew him off..

The then threw stuff at the box he was on to try and get it off the roof, missed loads and ended up with three boxes on the roof.. I had to climb out the window and kick them off eventually. I absolutly bricked it.. third storey up and all..

Let\'s see... I\'ve stirred a bottle of wash with the end of the paint brush then stuck it in my mouth before I remembered that it was there - and it wasn\'t dry.

I\'ve also squeezed the bottles with a little too much enthusiasm trying to get them unclogged and ended up with my entire bottle of paint in a puddle.

Spilled a pot of gold paint into my lap right at the crotch while on the phone with my now ex. There were a number of comments on that one.

I\'m glad to know I\'m not alone grabbing the can of primer rather than sealer. That is painfully annoying!
