I\'m having my own little customer services battle at the moment. I thought you lot might want to read the juicy complaint emails I\'ve been sending at them.
On the 12th of March 2008 I purchased a Vikings Monster Assault Playset through your direct order service. The description on the website clearly implied that two items were included in this set; a sea monster with a raft and a polar bear pulling a chariot. This was further confirmed by pictures clearly showing both sets together. When I went to pick up my order on the 14th of March 2008 only one item (the sea monster) had been delivered. When I queried this the assistant on the desk rang the customer helpline and was given the answer that only one was supplied because it stated in the terms and conditions that \"colours and styles may vary\". As I understand it this clause is meant to indemnify you against manufacturers changing components contained within the sets themselves i.e. an axe instead of a sword or the monster being blue not green, but it does not mean that you can supply only half of what is clearly advertised.
When I got home I contacted the customer service line myself and spoke to Monkeyboy who was very helpful and agreed to refer my situation to the site administration department who would then contact me and resolve the issue in time for my daughters birthday on the **th for whom the items had been purchased. On the 18th, after having had no contact from Tesco I again called the customer service line in the hope of getting the matter resolved in time for the items to be delivered for my daughters birthday. On this occasion I spoke to Numbnutz who told me that the issue had been reported to the site admin team but that they were very busy and that they would hopefully ring me before the end of the day. She also stated that she would personally ring me back regardless of whether they did in order to appraise me of the situation. Neither the admin team or Numbnutz contacted me at all.
Upon returning from a short holiday I checked the Tesco site to find that the description of the items had been changed to state that only one was supplied. From a customers point of view I take this to mean that the site administration has reviewed the case and made the necessary changes to the website but deemed it un-necessary to contact me regarding my situation. I again contacted Tesco customer services, this time speaking to Bedwetting Doodyhead. He told me that there was nothing he could do as he had no record of what action, if any, had been made regarding my claim and that I should contact you via Email. After recieving exemplary customer service from Tesco store staff on previous occasions I had expected the same level of care to be shown by Tesco Direct. I am extremely disappointed and find the apparent disregard for my claim utterly disgraceful. This has been the first time I have used Tesco Direct and it was almost certainly the last.
I have included attachments showing a screenshot in jpeg format of the page in question as it appeared on the 14th March as well as a saved copy of the webpage taken on the same day. This is because Bedwetting Doodyhead informed me that it would be up to me to prove that changes had been made to the site. I am as grateful I had the foresight to take these precautions as I am disappointed that it was necessary to do so to back up my claim.
My order reference and contact details are included at the top of the email and I look forward to someone contacting me to resolve this matter and hopefully supply me with the missing item.
