I\'ll join you, Donna, not for the same reason, though. For the umpteenth time the last couple of weeks my adsl went down and I had to phone tech support to set it up again. It\'s costing me everytime I need to phone them. The first week, after the third disconnection, a supervisor spoke to me and offered me a refund for that week. I\'ve not been offered one for the second week. This time the techie said I will not have the problem again, he will make sure of it. I\'ll keep him to his word.
Hope you remembered to get his name - that always helps to make them keep their word.

...unless they give you a fake name then you\'re just as screwed as before :drunk:

I\'m having my own little customer services battle at the moment. I thought you lot might want to read the juicy complaint emails I\'ve been sending at them.

On the 12th of March 2008 I purchased a Vikings Monster Assault Playset through your direct order service. The description on the website clearly implied that two items were included in this set; a sea monster with a raft and a polar bear pulling a chariot. This was further confirmed by pictures clearly showing both sets together. When I went to pick up my order on the 14th of March 2008 only one item (the sea monster) had been delivered. When I queried this the assistant on the desk rang the customer helpline and was given the answer that only one was supplied because it stated in the terms and conditions that \"colours and styles may vary\". As I understand it this clause is meant to indemnify you against manufacturers changing components contained within the sets themselves i.e. an axe instead of a sword or the monster being blue not green, but it does not mean that you can supply only half of what is clearly advertised.

When I got home I contacted the customer service line myself and spoke to Monkeyboy who was very helpful and agreed to refer my situation to the site administration department who would then contact me and resolve the issue in time for my daughters birthday on the **th for whom the items had been purchased. On the 18th, after having had no contact from Tesco I again called the customer service line in the hope of getting the matter resolved in time for the items to be delivered for my daughters birthday. On this occasion I spoke to Numbnutz who told me that the issue had been reported to the site admin team but that they were very busy and that they would hopefully ring me before the end of the day. She also stated that she would personally ring me back regardless of whether they did in order to appraise me of the situation. Neither the admin team or Numbnutz contacted me at all.

Upon returning from a short holiday I checked the Tesco site to find that the description of the items had been changed to state that only one was supplied. From a customers point of view I take this to mean that the site administration has reviewed the case and made the necessary changes to the website but deemed it un-necessary to contact me regarding my situation. I again contacted Tesco customer services, this time speaking to Bedwetting Doodyhead. He told me that there was nothing he could do as he had no record of what action, if any, had been made regarding my claim and that I should contact you via Email. After recieving exemplary customer service from Tesco store staff on previous occasions I had expected the same level of care to be shown by Tesco Direct. I am extremely disappointed and find the apparent disregard for my claim utterly disgraceful. This has been the first time I have used Tesco Direct and it was almost certainly the last.

I have included attachments showing a screenshot in jpeg format of the page in question as it appeared on the 14th March as well as a saved copy of the webpage taken on the same day. This is because Bedwetting Doodyhead informed me that it would be up to me to prove that changes had been made to the site. I am as grateful I had the foresight to take these precautions as I am disappointed that it was necessary to do so to back up my claim.

My order reference and contact details are included at the top of the email and I look forward to someone contacting me to resolve this matter and hopefully supply me with the missing item.

The saga continues:

It is with no small amount of dismay that I am again writing to you with regard to the issue I first raised almost a month and a half ago. I first contacted your customer service line by telephone on the 12th of March asking that the matter in question be resolved quickly as the items I purchased were intended as a birthday gift for my daughter. I was promised that the issue would be referred to your administration team and that I would be contacted with regard to resolving the matter within a few days. When I received no communication from your admin team I again telephoned your customer service line to find out what the situation was. I was told that because the admin team was so busy that it may take longer than expected for them to address the issue. The customer service representative promised to chase up the matter and that she would phone me back at the end of the day to appraise me of the situation. I recieved no phone call from either the admin team or the representative.

Several days after my daughters birthday I checked your website only to find that the description of the item in dispute had been altered. Assuming that the matter had been rectified I again telephoned your customer support line to see if my claim had been resolved. The representative told me that there was nothing whatsoever that he could tell me apart from the fact that it had been passed on to the admin team. When I explained that the description of the item in question had since been changed he informed me that he had no record of this and that it would mean that there was now no evidence to support my claim that the item was mis-represented. Fortunately I saved a copy of the page in question as well as taking a screenshot which clearly shows what was originally advertised. Your customer service representative then advised me to send an email stating my case along with a copy of the screenshot and webpage to your customer services email address. I sent this email on the 2nd of April. and as with the telephone conversations I have recieved no reply whatsoever.

Earlier today I once again telephoned your customer services line to try to find out if anyone was ever going to contact me at all. The representative I spoke to was completely dismissive of my situation and told me that there was nothing he could do about it and that the admin team was \"busier than usual\". I discussed with him the fact that I had seen no evidence that anyone was doing anything about my situation. I never once either raised my voice or displayed any kind abusive behaviour whatsoever. .Finally he told me that I \"would just have to be more patient\" I informed him that I had been patient for nearly a month and a half and he simply hung up the phone.

I find the level of customer service I have recieved concerning this matter utterly inconceivable from a company as apparently professional and well established as Tesco, but the treatment I have received today has left me thoroughly disgusted. I feel as though I have been continually and wilfully fobbed off and otherwise ignored despite the fact that I have attempted to approach the matter in a polite and reasonable way. Being hung up on by a representative who is supposed to provide assistance and maintain good relations with customers feels like a direct slap in the face.

I am writing this in the hope that I can get some form of reply independent of the original dispute I raised as I now feel that the poor quality of service I have received has become a seperate issue in its own right.

Will a monkey army help with the grues? I don\'t know what they are and why are they eatig my sherpa\'s? Poor guys. They can eat the yaks but the sherpas are human and somewhat hard to come by. Do I need to un-leash the wrath of the Butter Queen on them?

Well, after having my breakfast this morning, I decided to go on the computer. Guess what? That\'s right, the same problem as I\'ve been having. So yet again I phoned up tech support and also told them about the last time when I was told I wouldn\'t have this issue again. I was then asked, twice, if this is the first time I\'ve had this problem...

It got sorted again and I was told to ring up billing because they have some offers or something. I haven\'t done that just yet but I\'ll get onto it later this morning.

Is this all because of vista? I\'m thinking of putting it on my computer when I get it fixed but if this sort of thing happens a lot still I may wait.

I don\'t know, they haven\'t said but it seems to be a problem with the line, not my computer, so I would guess this isn\'t a Vista thing. If it happens again I\'ll try and get them to explain more clearly.

I specifically avoided vista when I got my computer last year because any wise person NEVER gets the newest virsion of anything from micro soft. You give it at least a year for the bugs to get worked out. I was just wondering if the bugs were gone yet. Sounds like the answer is no.

yup and Microsoft announced the other day that they were pulling XP off the shelves soon and would begin phasing it out in the next 6 months..which means they are going to force Vista down out throats wether we want it or not. I hate to say it but I may go Mac on my next purchase..
