Yesterday was gaming club day. My first 40k game in about 8 weeks and I was facing those damn Orks who I\'d faced earlier, with their silly special character who can come on any tableedge he chooses. This time there were more Boyz, some biker Nobz and a battlewagon with dethroller.
It was a seize and control mission with spearhead deployment. I got to deploy first and nabbed the hight ground with my Inquisitor Lord and his retinue and deployed everything else more or less in a line facing the opposite table quarter. I was careful not to leave anything really useful near the table edge.
Basically the game was me shooting the Orks as much as possible and them trying to swarm me. I yhad early successes, killing two of the Bikerz and wounding another two, destroying one trukk before it could get the Orks closer, anf the other a turn later, which then careened forward, exploding and killing half the Orks inside. The remaining 6 orks charged my Grey Knights but were cut down.
The battlewagon rolled into one of my dreadnoughts destroying both weapons but the dread remained. It was destroyed the next turn by the 20 orks that deployed from the wagon. The wagon then went on to steamroll a unit of Grey Knights. I decided to stand firm and take a swing at it with my Justicar. His power sword sliced through the tank\'s armour causing major damage, resulting in it exploding. The explosion killed a couple of the Orks or so as well. No damage was done to the grey knights by the explosion but the momentum of the rolling attack killed four of them.
The reamining bikerz attacked the other dreadnought, which managed to hold on for a couple of turns, delaying the warboss and his entourage.
That sneaky ork arrived and attacked my Inquisitor and his retinue, killing them, and went on to kill a 5-man unit of stormtroopers. I did, however, whittle them down to just two Orks. Enough of the large unit of boyz remained to do some damage, killing 8 grey knights and 6 stormtroopers but I had killed about another ten of them in the process.
My terminators deep striked behing the Ork lines, luring one unit of Boyz of which there were just 7 left, away from the main battle. The orks were dispatched with ease. Then the terminators faced another volley of Gretchin shooting and were assaulted by them. After all that, there was still a terminator remaining.
I had four grey knights left in my second unit and they moved to claim an objective. The bikerz then moved to claim one for the orks. The rest of the remaining Orks tried to finish the grey knights off. The warboss and bikerz killed the terminator but the other four grey knights remained. The game ended with that turn. It was a draw.
I didn\'t lose!!! Woohoo!!! :flip::bouncy::flip:
