You've a talent for applying highs in places I wouldn't think of, those extreme almost white dots are amazing. Superb technique mate
I completely agree, I saw it on some youtube (maybe at painting budda's) and also on some folks here and I love the effect, but I still fail at them. (I think placement is key)

Cheers folks

@ Oistene. I didn't realise how close up the pictures were! I post most of my photos from my phone now and they were 'normal' sized on my screen, bloody ginormous on the laptop!

Thanks Mally and Maenas. I've been watching a ton of Ben Komats tutorials and trying to emulate his light placement (he has a wonderful understanding of light) I'm going for highlights next to shadows for maximum contrast (something else he talks about) Brightest highlights are Vallejo ivory.

Some time ago I posted my diorama Weapon of last resort to the Gallery. I was never 100% happy with the picture quality so today I snapped a few new pictures. Overal I'm much happier with it C&C welcome

Great composite picture. I just got the revised version of this demon with alternate weapons and helmet. Seeing the size of him in hand makes your effort even more impressive. He is big!

that's awesome about the painting group tim! i might have to try and set one up where i live too, as we don't have a lot of hobbyists around here who we can meet up with.

your diorama is looking fantastic! i need to know the recipe for those gorgeous metals you have painted!

looking fantastic so far man! that huge base really sets those minis in a great way.
just one thing, are you going to wether the base either with paints or marks? it may be my personal preference, but i feel that the ship should be rough and wethered like the crew.

i feel you with the mood thing. mine's been keeping me up way past my bedtime too

When the muse decends we must follow our heart ! enough with the greek ideaology base looks great with lots of detail and agree with Meaty needs weathering or damage as construction is very precise

This is going to be an absolutely stunning dio! I always love "groundwork" which has multiple levels on it. Not always an easy thing to do, but you've nailed it to perfection!

Keep up the great work,

Gino(2dope)

Wow, this is all kinds of great, had to scroll back up to look more at it twice before I replied.

Painting is good for keeping the black dog at bay - personally, I should be in a bad place right now as everything has gone to shit, and yet, I paint and smile and I feel like I'm doing better than I have been in years. Creativity lets us keep our heads on.

Looks like this is going to be another amazing piece. I love the attention to details on the decking.
