No, no don't repaint it! I'm sure the opportunity to use your new paintset will come quickly. And then you can easily compare the both. Just my two cents though.
Not sure Mally. I'll probably go for some sort of dark cotton with some sun and salt bleaching. I'll get my Google-fo in gear tomorrow and do some research.
Cheers Kbear and Gino. The coat really was fighting back for a time and I did consider shelving him. I swallowed the bullet and had a good go at him tonight though and I'm much happier. The main problem was the huge amount of gloss from the inks (which didn't really show up in the photos) but I've glazed in some strong tone, added some purple into the shadows to tie it in with the skin. And started rehighlighting and I much prefer the result View attachment 45148View attachment 45149View attachment 45150
The leather, and the model generally, is looking great. I hope you set an appropriately exacting standard for yourself (which, if you're questioning that coat, you clearly are!), because I think you are well on your way to your best work yet.
Your style of brushstroke looks great at this scale.
I'm not crazy about that pinkish tone as a highlight on the chest & stomach- I think it might look better as a shift in skin color along his midline, rather than just the way the whole surface of the skin looks in the light. Just my preference, though. Still looking great!
thanks Saint. I took the photo quiet late last night and I think the picture is a little over saturating the colours. It's a little more muted IRL. I still need to pick out a few details and highlights on the belly and I'm going to glaze a little yellow in there as well to help the green pop. So far this month has been a huge pile of s**t and my motivation has pretty much crashed to zero. However I'm very fortunate to have the guys from my painting club. We settled into a decent session tonight I eventually got a little done. Trousers and boot leather WIP
