So I've had some time to get my head together after Salute and I have to say it was absolutely mind blowing! It was great to meet up (however briefly) with Andy, Sprocket, Skel, Ten, DragonsReach, Squidders and WGS. I bought some beautiful models from Figone, some great brushes from Brokentoad, which I'm dying to use. The painting competition was incredible, over 200 fantastic miniatures. I entered both 'Weapon of mass destruction' and 'paint me like one of your dwarf girls' I wasn't really expecting much and would have been incredibly happy with a finalist pin. I was completely stunned when WoMD took second in its catagory!!!

Special thanks here to Mally as I wouldn't have entered anything if he had t pushed me to do so, thanks dude you're a legend :)

Anyway I got a little bit of painting in last nights and while I've got to intergrate the grass a little more into he base, paint the tree and add some snow the base is now pretty much done. Now onto the models :)

C&C welcome

cheers

Tim

Congrats man!! I am happy for you :D The orc looks awesome feels like he's in a snow storm tho with the white primer :) The base looks ace bro, must of cost a fortune in basing material.

Thanks Joce, I think I'm still on a high if I'm honest :)

haha I see what you mean about the snow storm. I've had to play around a little with the picture of the Orc, just so it gives a decent representation of the colours I'm seeing. It has made the whites in the photo very stark though. I'm kinda wishing I'd just primed in white with the mini's this time around, I think it would have been easier to paint.

This base hasent actually been to bad. I think I've spent about £25 on grass and small flowers. The cork, wood and stones I scavenged and the tree is just a piece of wire and some green stuff.

Congratulations on your win!
You've really caught the Paul Bonner look in that face. Love those bright colors!
How do you plan to try to unify the grass? Will you tint things with some sort of wash at 'ground' level or use a similar highlight on the taller blades of grass?

Thanks guys :)

@ Saint - both. Washes and highlights with a little pigment to dirty it up.

@ WGS the jury's still out on the spear. I'm happy with it a the moment but Mally does make a good point. I think I'll see how I feel about it when I gave more painted.

This dio is looking really sweet. You did great on the base portion, I think the spear looks awesome and you did a great job with the colors on the face, looks very much like the art.
