I have just had a browse of the catergories for the golden demons (U.K.) and noticed they a prefixed with a warning in bold red ink.....changes are on the way ??? ??? ???.

What the nature of the changes are it doesnt say, but maybe, just maybe they might be some of the changes I have been harping on about for the last few years.Lets hope they are changes that benefit and encourage the modellers.:flip: :flip: :D :flip:

Maybe I will be going to Games Day this year after all ;).

GOD bless ...................VINCENTI

Expect the changes to completely screw up your planned entries. I defended GW for too long. I got my wife and kids to start painting/playing and they loved it. We all went to Games Day together yay. Then the turds cancelled ATL GD, quit selling bits, raised their prices again, and again, and again and I\'m only going to soak up crap from the smelly red-shirts for so long before I punch one in the neck.

Aren\'t they going to be making the categories for all the GDs the same? If so it could be that all large scale models go in the open category.

I\'m almost sure it\'ll be that all full scratches must compete in the Open cat--> no scratch is eligible for the slayer sword anymore. It\'s been like this in all GD\'s lately (except France, they luckily do what they want still), that\'s how they said at the Spanish GD the demons would become, and and seeing they want to standardize all the demons worldwide, i foresee it......

Yeah its very vague as to what they are saying with may be subject to change. I would suggest looking at whats been printed for the US Golden Demon categories and rules. They do mention that they are trying to standardize it world wide.

I think Albert has something there by saying all full scratch build mush go to open now.

If you read the WD categories it mentions that scratch builds can be entered in the large scale category.

Very strange.

Seems that this will turn off many of the big players.

Oh well I suppose GW knows best. lollollollollol

I agree with GW cutting out full sculpts in the standard classes as its meant to be a painting competition not a full on what can I get away with in this class comp!!

There is a place for full sculpts and that is in their own classes. So a large and small scale sculpt class would be great.

Just my view on this.

Yeah, I agree about the sculpts. I think the contest should be about painting and converting figures, not sculpting them (although it does beg the question, where is the line drawn between sculpt and conversion).

Leave the sculpts to the Open.

As I\'ve stated hundreds of times.....I don\'t agree with the banning of sculpts. To begin with it limits the artists so much! If the sculpts don\'t look GWish, just don\'t let them win, its as simple as that... but what if you can sculpt a model in GW style better than their own minis? why not?? see the amazing slayerdwarf by mr waeselynck for instance... and i personally think the argument of \"its a painting comp, so ban the sculpts\" has no sense at all. You can only judge on the painting side of a scratch model too! You can forget its a scratch and only look at how well or bad painted the sculpt is. The fact of being a sculpt will just let the artist make the ideas he has in mind and sculpt something he might be really good at PAINTING. But, anyways.... this debate doesnt take place here so excuse me for the offtopic hehehe

i agree with neil and albert

the sculpts should have a seperate category, and i think they should be eligable for the sword.

i understand why GW has made them ineligable, a lot of people use GD to advertise their own miniature line.
by making sculpts ineligable for the sword a lot of people won\'t won\'t bother.

it would be nice to see unpainted sculpts with GW offering to buy the winning sculpts and get them cast for production.

at the ned of the day, while GD remains a first past the post comp sculpters will always have a huge advantage due to the wow factor involved.
by moving sculpts to a seperate category this starts to bring the level playing field back into view.

i personaly think it should be judged using the open system, but that\'s another debate :D
