Rob, I think given the colours for uniforms suggested I quite like the standard as per the GW box. Although I surpose you could give it a gold trim instead of the off white one.

Like wise my Commander is primed up and I will be starting him shortly I have a dilemer though...
Cedric\'s guide says white cuffs & hat for officers and gold trims however given the amount of metal on this guy in the way of bionic arm and bionic leg, chain mail lower half of tunic and gold breast plate and adjoining armour bits.
Where do I go, I am in the mind of chainmail, metal leg and arm in steel, breast plate and adjoining armour in gold but I think he is going to look odd with a white hat cuffs and inner tunic with a gold trim.

I am thinking of an of white for the cuffs and inner cloak if that is OK with everybody probably a light buff colour and so that the skull on his hat doesn\'t clash with his fur hat I was thinking gold for the skull. The inner trim on the cloak I am thinking of keeping red as per the GW pic is this OK with everybody???

What about a scenic base.some one could make one with holes ready cut for models when they are given in.Just to tie it together and maybe increase the price

OK, here we go. The chosen minis are ... drum roll ... the Vostroyans.

A little explanations is probably necessary as to why this choice was made :

*) GW\'s latest minis (usually sells well on eBay, and don\'t forget, in the end, they will be auctioned for WoH);
*) When they first came out, they were either a love or hate army; this is the opportunity to show that they can be made into a characterful army;
*) Not Space Maines ;);
*) Maybe Mike appreciates the movie Stalingrad as much as I do ;).

Concerning the paint schemes (bear with me, been busy lately so this was done quickly) :

Guard :
VostroyenGuardColorVariant1.jpg

Officer :
VostroyenOfficerColorVariant1.jpg

Guards get black cuffs and hats, officers get white versions. Both get black pants.

We thought that there was too much brown in the EM team\'s paint scheme, so the guns will be getting steel and the armors will have less gold. Something like this concept :

frontpage-40k-1.jpg

Two important notes :
*) You are free to chose your exact shades. The fluff implies that a lot of their equipement is hand made, so some variation is possible. If you do need some color references, I\'ll happily suggest a few;
*) Metals should all be done in NMM for cohesion (sorry Tim, but consider it the occasion to show people again that you do cool NMM ;)). From what I\'ve seen, most of the participants know how to do this technic. If it\'s not the case then it\'ll be the perfect occasion to learn (CMON has plenty of articles on the subject ;)).

Bases should be greyish urban ruins. The rim of the base should be painted black.

Finally, please sign with your initials and country initials the back of the rim of the base.

Here is the list of chosen minis (sign up is on a first come first serve basis; for the command squad, please try to partner up with other people so only one box is necessary) :

*) Vostroyan Commander :
*) Vostroyan Standard :
*) Vostroyan Comm Link :
*) Vostroyan Medic :
*) Vostroyan Grenade Launcher :

*) Vostroyan Sniper 1 : green stuff
*) Vostroyan Sniper 2 : Tyneth

*) Commissar :

*) Vostroyan Sergeant :
*) Vostroyan Radio Operator (a converted Vostroyan Trooper) :
*) Vostroyan Flamer :
*) Vostroyan Lascannon Team :
*) Vostroyan Trooper :
*) Vostroyan Trooper :
*) Vostroyan Trooper :
*) Vostroyan Trooper :
*) Vostroyan Trooper :

Feel free to convert and add to the bases (but keep the original size of the base ;)) as you feel fitting.

Also, please post WIP so we can see where things are heading ;).

Bill, you probably moved this up for me however I have been refering back to it on several occasions now and if you take a very close look at the commander you will see what I am on about he is not like your normal officer...

@Rob : as Martyn said ;).
@Martyn : sounds good ;). Plus, as he is the commander, feel free to add gold to him if you feel fitting.
@Swordwind : All the positions are filled. But if you are coming to the UK GD, how about painting a trooper as backup?

This is Tyneth\'s sniper so far :

I\'m still working on my sniper\'s base.

Cleaned, tidied up based and finally primed mine yesterday.

@TheCadian: As for a display base it\'s being considered.

Was that comment in response to my description of my base Dragonsreach (it was a while back, I kinda skipped out on this thread for a while)?

I tried to keep my base in style with the CoD book cover ground that you showed in the first post, which has hunks of metal and whatnot poking through the rubble. I don\'t want to sound like a misery guts here but if I have to make another base I will be a liitle bit peeved because I really like how this one has come out.

And yeah, I know that it\'s for chariddy, but I really like the base as it is! I\'ll try and get some pics of it up on Tuesday or Wednesday so you can have a look.

@lono:
No that comment was not aimed at you specifically.
What Cedric and I would prefer in general is that you dont have to go and make the single figure a full scene as there are 15 people painting and basing figures. Trying to have close similarity between bases will give a consistant theme to the Squad.

@Mike - if a display base was done, it might be an idea to do it like this one:

Ultramarines from GD 2005

By doing only dark tones on the base itself, the focus is drawn onto the figures, and we wouldn\'t have to worry about the tones on each mini\'s base not matching the display base.

Cheers

If you feel it\'s leather, then leather, if you feel it\'s metal, then steel for contrast. Officers could get gold, but then the painter would have to be sure it doesn\'t look too much like the leather.

They all have high leather boots, but on the few that do have trousers showing, we decided black for contrast.

@KingM: Thanks for the link and the suggestion.
However I think that particular example is too disparate and looks unfinished. (IMPO)
But it does provide an idea which could give us \'ground\' to work on.

I\'ll discuss this with Cedric.
