What in the hell are they thinking?

no with international businesses it doesn\'t have to come from the \"head\" office. and in any event they have to follow local laws for the local distributors. ie anti-trust laws.

so since your statement that UK bitz sellers have not been targetted it seems to be a local phenomena and more than likely a decision made by the US part of the company rather than the \"head\" office, else all countries bitz sellers would have been given the same notice such as happened with the online sale of the boxed sets and blisters.

and english is read from left to right, top to bottom. as you can note from other posts, a reply comes after what is being replied to. this not only helps identify properly what you are replying to in the case of multiple replies to multiple quotes, but puts things in a more logical order when reading.

Just another way for GW to try and get more money/sales...oh lets can the bitz trade unless it is from us and then only release a small amount of bitz so everyone has to buy boxed sets they don\'t want.

What I find even more insidious is how they have changed bags of one sized bases to a bag of all sizes.
Sure it may only be $15 here in Oz as the sales assistant pointed out to me....but I don\'t want to buy a bag of assorted bases when all I want is the 40mm ones....not very cost effective when you look at it like that.
I personally think it is a sneaky way to get me to buy what I dont want and wont use. Why on earth do I want to buy something that has a stack of 25mm bases in it when my own supply of them seems to be breeding or self replicating. I can\'t give them buggers away and GW wants me to buy more.....no thanks. I am yet another customer who now goes elsewhere for that product.

Good news then. Gale Force 9 makes bases as well. Here is the linkage.

Come to think about it, I can go to China and manufacture tons of bitz...even full kits and let\'s see what they can do. Look what happen to those Gundum models.

Exactly what I was thinking. GW are just baiting recasters nowadays. Like movie and music companies, make your product vastly overpriced/ very difficult to obtain and even the most upstanding of citizens will overlook morals to get what they want, and who\'s gonna supply it? Not GW, that\'s for sure.

I was just glancing at my mini collection -
My thousand sons army has about 35 metal and plastic troops a converted 10 man elites unit using parts from tomb kings and dark elves. A lord using parts from night lords, black templars, c\'tan, ahriman and others. With all of the usual chaos marine bits, dreads, demons termies and so on.

Now to make this order as a regular customer before the summary execution of the mail order service would have come to around the £350 mark. Quite a bit but it\'s a full army and every mini is a collection of bits both metal and plastic.

To order this now having to buy the complete minis instead of parts....well the GW mail order basket just crashed at the £1250 mark.

Oh and by the way I ordered this army when I was staff and got change from £40. lol

Yeah GW still sucks, everyone drink!!! :drunk::drunk::drunk:

It still amazes me when a hobby based company no longer want to support the hobby end of their business. I don\'t get it. Instead of looking at the market and addressing the issue of consumer demand for individual parts, they seek ways to control the market and suppress the demand by eliminating the sellers. Why not just get their dead asses organized and sell the products themselves? If it was done correctly they would make money. The independent parts sellers seem to be able to do that just fine. so the real question is why can\'t GW seem to do so?

As for the whole recasting part of the discussion, here is my plan. I will recast any part that I need if I cannot purchase it from GW. Once I buy the original product I am allowed to duplicate it under the intellectual free use laws for my own personal use, meaning if I buy one sword but need 12, I can remold that sword for my own personal use. I would rather buy from GW because duplicating costs money and time, but if I cannot I will explore the option of recasting for my own personal use. This however does not give you the right to sell or distribute copies but if you need pieces in your army that you cannot get otherwise, recasting for your own use is the way to go.

Really I wish GW would just \"get it\". I never minded placing bitz orders and was happy to support GW with my money. I would love to continue to do so and I don\'t understand why this portion of their sales division was closed. I also dont understand why they would waste time harassing minor sellers who are attempting to fill a niche in the gaming community that they are unwilling to fill. If any of the GW suits are lurking here, please chime in with some info. Thanks.

Heh, the only suits you\'ll see GW\'s management in are the type concerning law.
I think Gw\'s hiring policy from about 1990-1999 was - Do you like heavy metal? Yes/ welcome aboard! You have a biker jacket? Welcome to the trainee manager program!

The current CEO actually got his job by owning a real motorcycle and having a real tatoo!!!! lol

I mean stores that sell bitz. Not their bitz section. GW no longer sells individual bitz.

And ideas do come from a main office. There is a head CEO who periodically sends reports of some sort. When he talks about what they plan on doing he doesn’t say “Our American store will do this and our Australian store will do that.”

I think we will see, in time, that the private UK bitz sellers will get the same treatment that their American counterparts get.

And for the record; English is my first language and I am aware of how it works. I have taught ESL for six years. I have also written 64 children short stories and ghost written two ESPN articles. I don’t need you trying to lecture me on how the language works you arrogant tit. :moon:

No wonder Supervike gave a verbal ass kicking in that other thread.

There comes a time in life where you learn that you were given 2 ears and one mouth so you could listen twice as much as you talk.

/Snickers @ Airhead for that quote in the other linkied thread above. I have put that one to memory for use with my son the next time I help him with his homework or teach him a game or something.

Cheers for that link Beelzebrush. I just read it through and Shadzar owes me 20mins of my life back! How utterly pointless. I can imagine Marvin the Paranoid Android shaking his head at the futility of it all...

A message for Shadzar: you don\'t know what you\'ve got until you\'ve lost it. Maybe that\'s a bit OTT for what this place offers, but I\'ve been to the edge with pissing people off in the past and what kept me from pushing mods too far is the realisation that this is my favourite website and I have lots of friends here. That was valuable enough for me and I have since changed my ways.

I know that was off-topic, but I had to pour out my feelings :D

NOT AVAILABLE !! G.W.SPARES !!!

I have already posted this else were but are you all aware that when I recently rang up U.K. G.W. for some spares I was informed none of them are available.
ALL the components you could get seperately have been stopped! except for a misereable little list you can down load from U.K. online :flame:

:flame:  Obvious conclusion ! If you need some spare bits for conversion work on your G.D. entry you will HAVE to buy a WHOLE BOX to get a few weapons or heads, or whatever :flame::mad:
ITs not very helpful is it ,It does mean TRADING POST could become VERY POPULAR ! :D.
They cant stop us playing SWAPSies !:bouncy: :flip:.

I think at the end of the day its all just going to end up with GW suddenly realising how much of their own market they have destroyed, and that suddenly their stock price is worth nothing, and they are out of business.

Which is roughly what I told Stuart McQaurrie or however his names spelt last time I had to ring in complaining about something.

I think I swore a lot more though.

But then Im in the same kinda boat as a lot of you guys, Im interested in building up a pre heresy army, so theres no way Im buying complete boxes for maybe 10 bits, and if theres no bits stores around, Im gonna go spend my money on something else.

Like tamiya kits like I did in the first place, all those years ago.

They dont want my money, fine by me.
