I've been working on a wedding cake topper for a friend, despite Araldite failing on me I've just managed to get it finished in time for this weekend (when the wedding is), yep I cut it a but fine.
So here's a couple of piccies to show I do actually slap paint around now and again.

I like that the shadows are less prominent. Makes it lighter, less rooted. The figures and bits together with the colour palette make for something pretty, almost art nouveau.

That is an EPIC wedding topper! Love the steampunk theme (as I'm sure your friends will, too). If only my woman would allow such a display of awesomeness on our wedding cake next year. *sigh*

Now are the miniatures close representations of the groom and bride? And did you build the platform yourself or was it a preconstructed piece? Or an amalgum of pieces?

Omaha, the platform was a deconstructed folding cup holder car accessory, suitably adorned with again deconstructed "El Cheapo" brass(ish) jewellery then lots of matching pairs, as much as possible, of watch gears and other bits. The back upright is not the first or my preferred Steampunk style, but the bloody thing couldn't set with the Araldite I tried to use.

But and most importantly, I gave it to Nadine, (the Bride) yesterday who provided the whole staff and customers of Waterstones, Birkenhead to a Squeeeeee of both epic proportions and volume! Then proceeded to redesign the shape of my rib cage with a matching hug!
I'm guessing she liked it!

Regretfully, for me, the wedding is on Friday so I'm unable to attend thanks to a W.O.T. meeting.

Very cool Mike! Now for your next trick, work moving gears into the clockwork :silly!::sinister::sinister:
Moving gears?
OK I can do that, shouldn't be too difficult, but not clockwork powered only mobile and rotational.
(You should know what a pedant I can be.)

Very nice, Mike! It's going to be an impressive cake!
Have someone take photographs of the cake for you and post here.
Yes i agree with that, it does deserve some more praise :)

Sadly no photo's of the cake (intended version) which didn't survive an encounter with a 2 year old on Thursday afternoon.
A new and different one had to be used at Very Short Notice. {Apparently the girl doing the cake is no longer speaking to her sister over that....Wonder why?}
My "Topper" wasn't on the cake (thankfully) so it didn't get used as such, it's been kept as a Special Keepsake instead.
