WIP: Stormblade with interior

Well, almost. The potentiometer is the part that lets you decide just how burnt the toast will get. :D

One of the plates got too hot soldering that it burned through the plastic of the switch and fell off. That\'s what one gets for using cheap components and crude tools. lol

Now, I\'m off to the store

Well, what do you say about a real update?
these last few days have been filled with heat and hardships but finally I have something worthy of an update.

To begin with, here is the tank with power on and full juice:

All nice and shiny blues here! :)

But the goal of these past few days have been to dim that blue shine down a bit. So, with those components I showed you in an earlier post I made myself a circuit board. I never got to making a custom one though, I used the existing one as I found a way to hide it well.
As a side effect I realized I had a new place to put my battery, making room for new components and cables in the rear compartment:

With this extra space I have started thinking about adding a battery eliminator socket to use on a scenic base or something, but that will come later if I get around to it, definitely nothing I need to think about before starting on the base.

The dimming switch is going to be hid in the same way as the power switch, under a hatch in the rear:

And finally, what this whole week was all about, the dimmed reactor core:

Now I just need to finish the design on the reactors and cannon since we know it is all working as planned.

EJECT THE WARP CORE!

Wait....wrong fictional story line!

Looks a lot better dimmed!

i guess it\'s too late to mention a pulsing function......

i know i did so before, but it\'s just such a cool idea, really giving a sense of activity to the entire thing, instead of just adding a light....

It is definitely not too late to add pulse. In fact, this is the time to add it if ever. I have a whole other side to put electronic stuff in. But I won\'t afford a module for that until the end of the month. But I can do some research to see if it\'s worth it.

couple of points, now you have installed a dimmer for the reactor how are the crew gonna get a tan? also what about adding some extra wiring to search/headlights etc.
p.s. christmas tree lights the ones with the tiny tiny bulbs might do the job and they come with the wire and the little box of tricks that pulses and makes the lights flash, theres a setting on mine that fades in and out which would be ideal for the reactor and another that pulses rapidly in series which would make the plasma cannon\'s look like they mean business, what do you think do ya have the skills? well do ya punk? (apologies was watchin dirty harry last night):D

Hey cassar! Long time no see! Good to see you back. :D
You have a point there... The solution could be just that easy.
Only thing I see, where to get Christmas lights at this time of year? :D

While we\'re at it, I did some failed experiments with trying to add a laser to the cannon a while back, never got to post any pics of it.
Well, My friend Jkos thought the idea was cool so he donated another laser but I have this far been afraid to use it in case I kill this one as well...
Might be worth a shot now that my electronics skills have improved a bit.

im still watching this build chrome its become \"of epic proportions\" .
by laser i presume you mean like a laser pointer/key ring type of thing or is it something that is powerful enough to show a beam i.e. like a weapon sight. either would be totally awesome(show off). i have a collection of lights gathered up over the years in the xmas decorations box i presumed everyone was in the same boat, i thought you wouldnt have a problem with fairy lights you are after all a lot closer to the north pole. or you could try the web if santa\'s busylol.
in all seriousness the tank\'s really starting to come together if i was you i would concentrate on the tech stuff you already have on the boil the tanks gonna be upgradable you can always add stuff later at the risk of it developing its own gravity fieldlol.
the lizards gonna make an appearance soon dont blink you may miss it, its as fast as a fast thing with six legslol

With how random sets are these days, you buy one string of lights and next year you have to replace one, and a new strand is cheaper than a replacement pack of bulbs for them, so I have MANY spare Xmas lights and strands.

You may be able to find them in thrift stores, or stores with common sense that sell things all year round since decorations aren\'t only for specific government observed holidays.

or you could just use your current lights and get new ones come the holidays.

A quick update, nothing much. Just finished the main soldering on the body of the tank, now it\'s time to start getting serious about that cannon.

And I think cassar\'s right, I\'ll finish the parts I have started with now before adding more and lose perspective, I\'ll keep all suggestions in mind but try to get closer to a finished product before adding more electrical bling.
Don\'t worry people, it\'ll get there, just not immediately. :D

Ok, just wanna tell you guys that I haven\'t died and left you all behind. I have been experimenting with various things that could have gotten the LEDs to pulse, this far I have been out of luck.

But the other day I added a few more arms to my Mechanicum priest and primed him, I\'ll be bringing him to a friends house this evening and start to paint him(yep, I do feel I\'m that close. Plus, I need to do something other than build a while. lol). If I get the time during the day I\'ll start paint him earlier and then post a bit of wip pics for you today.

pull your finger out at start slapping some paint around at this rate methuselah might still be around by the time you start painting this
