NMM Help

What else does this mini need to make it have a NMM color?

@ napster, how about mixing the shadow grey with a dark blue like midnight blue for the darkest areas then blend it up to shadow grey, then add white to the grey until you get to pure white for the very sharpest highlights. Try that with alot of patience and also an understanding of where the light would hit the model(which is very important) and hopefully you should have some good looking NMM. I\'m no expert in the subject mind as i\'m quite new to the technique:D.

Here are some classic minatures which im working on at the moment I had planned to do them quite quickly but I cant seem to paint anything quickly these days. They are the heroes from heroquest which I use to play alot when I was younger, the first lot are covered in about an inch on paint so I bought the whole game again on ebay. I am painting them to resemble the artwork on the box, the barbarian is finished apart from the base (which I should have sculpted before I stuck them on), im looking forward to doing the freehand on the wizard.

well its going to be like the one on the heroquest box, which is some blue flames at the bottom of shirt and a crescent moon in the centre with stars all around also blue, I might even do some runes on the back of the cloak if I can be bothered.

@ Joshua- the minatures are made from red plastic ,plus my white spray was near enough empty. I think the cloak is looking good it will be good to see it on the minature.
The skin for my barbarbarian was quite simply, it was a basecoat of bronzed flesh and bestial brown, with schorched brown added for the shading and more bronzed fleh added to the basecoat up to pure bronzed flesh for the highlights.

They are looking great I know that these look simple to do but are not I have the Game and keep meaning to paint all mine up , I did the same as you got it when I was younger and then made a mess of painting them so bought it a few months ago off e-bay.

It\'s a scan of the back of my =I= scale Bloodletter. I sculpted the furcoat is afternoon, it will stand in a wintertheme display base, together with Duke von Castellan(it\'s going to be my Golden Demon entry for GD UK 2005).

the armor on the minis looks great although im not too keen about the minis themselfs, you did a good job with the skin considering the difficulties and lack of colors for dark skin :\\

the ][ bloodletter and the fur look good but i would love to see a shot of his front :)

im lookin for some feedback on this here:
forgeworld bust i bought back in 99 (first german GD)

i looked at the awesome faces of hardy tempest larger scale minis and used the wet palette :rolleyes:
unfortunately it didnt even come close to his level but i am quite satisfied with the result
now i need some suggestions on the skin.
i think it seems a little orange but maybe thats just because of his orange eyesbrows.
what hair color do you suggest? (its a dark angel chaplain thats why he has the necklace with the balls :) )

should i darken the skin a little more or highlight the edges any further? i have no experience with large scale models (yet)

Looks beautiful so far :eek: If anything, I might go one more subtle highlight but only on the cheekbones and towards the end of the nose. As for hair color, I\'m not sure, but I\'d stay away from blondes and go with a medium-to-dark color, browns or black.

I wouldn\'t overdo the highlights. Remember that the bigger the scale is the subtler you got to make the highlights. I think it\'s fine as it is. What you could try is to make the skin more authentic and not to smooth and uniform, which can make it start to look like a rubber mask. Look at you own face in the mirror and study the difference in skin colour on various parts of your face to see what I mean.

Hardy uses oil paints and there is no way to achieve the same lustre of the colours with acrylic paint.

hm you got some point there but most people use weathering or \"gimmiks\" like a short bristly beard to give the miniature more character but i think its just not suitable for a space marine (except for space wolfs) and i cant think of other things to add more individualism or character to the face (my face is also rather bearded so the mirror thing doenst work that good ;) )

Joshua: I must say.. you\'ve did a very nice blending job. I think the contrast is right.. maybe som even brighter spots perhaps. Just to give the skin some extra luster.

But as ritual says. Look at your own face (or someone elses). You\'ll notice that the skin is a bit more red perhaps on the cheeks and nose.. not much.. very subtle. (depending on weather conditions and any abuse of beverages not suitable for children) around the eyes.. the colours are more cold.. blue or green. Around the nose the same.. etc.

@Joshua
Avelorn pointed out what I was referring to. Slightly reddish areas, perhaps a bit of dark under the eyes, that sort of things. When working in large scale these things become more important.

@Fizl
That looks nice! Good blending on his skin.
