Here is the idol I showed before, finished and awaiting the attachment of the shaman and terrain work. There is a story to the scene that explains the gems in the skulls, and the old rough look to the statue that I\'ll include when I post the figure. After this, back to simple bases for awhile - this took too long!

Looking good Primeval I think if it were me I would just take the skulls and the skeleton up a touch higher. I bet the finished piece will look awesome.

Yeah, it\'s looking good! I agree with Tim on the skulls. A little bit lighter highlights would look better, yet keep the look of aged, weathered bone.

Thanks guys, I think I will go back and hit them with one more highlight. I glazed them with a dark tone to give them an aged look and must have lost the highlights too much in the process.

well, recently I almost got mad because of my painting - I`ve spoiled each mini I`ve tried . Yesterday I`ve decided to paint a whole lot different than usual (zenithal basecoating, lots of medium in the paint, all shades mixed and ready on palette) and found this awesome wolfen sculpt. Looks promising..... hope that finally I`ll come up with a good mini.

A pretty early WIP here, but would appreciate any pointers/tips/stock options.

All that\'s \'complete\' so far is the face and the armor. I\'m still learning my way around steel NMM but so far I am happy with this one for the most part.

@Everyone: Thanks! I\'ll smooth out the middle part of theblade, and keep the rest as is.
@Greenstuff, yes, the skin on the legs and right arm is just basecoated with a wash right now.
@Primeval, looks very cool, how about washing the idol itself with some reddish browns for some weathering?
@Malleus, the skin looks great, \'specially the colour. It\'s also nice to see someone else trying zenithal
@Darth, how about washing his skin with a bit of green for that good ol\'
barbarian funk look?

@darth : I\'d suggest pushing the highlights higher, and the shadows darker. Looks more like gray than NMM at the moment to me (though it could just be a question of adjusting the photo as well).

What do you guys think it\'d take to convert this mini;

into an assassin? Do you think i could get away with it if i just dremeled out the helmet and chinstrap and resculpted the face and added a wool beani?

are the white sprinkles a snow effect or perhaps a bad basecoat? because it looks awesome, like you could actually feel the cold, very cool imho !

@Joshua, It\'s called zenithal priming. The idea is tho spray the whole mini black first, and then spray white from above to give it a natural instant shading effect. Nelson is the real expert on the subject. He\'s kind of a zenithal missionary.

WIP

Here\'s a warm-up piece fig I\'m starting, just to get the feel of it again after a 6-month hiatus. Feels good to get back into it, though. Anyways, here\'s my Eldar Warlock. And before anyone asks, the silver effect on the weapon is merely rubbed-off primer. Kinda looks cool, though.

I think before I post a finalised pic, I\'m going to invest in some more lamps - this was done with a single flourescent lamp, but I think it needs more. As for that zenithal priming method, wow! I think I\'ll try that out sometime in the near future.

does that really work?
i reckon that the paint will cover the shading completely
can you really see a difference between ordinary and zenithal priming or is it some kind of weird painting placeebo?
