and the pain continues....

Well...I don\'t know whether to be upset or pleased.

latest shot as of 1:30 am this morning...

I am adding the scales right now. not all of it will be covered as the armour will hide sections, so no point to sculpt those parts.

The head is a bit rough but am hoping hte armour helmed will hide the flaws :)

the feet are royally F*&ked. I am thinking that I will have a nice scenic Lustrian jungle base, with lots of water, mud, jungle plants hiding the feet, except for the front 2 probably, and even then, barely visible. Will add a few little critters to the base as well ...

less than 2 months away for england...i\'m in trouble :(

goal is 30 hours of work on this model this weekend (monday is off for us in Canada)...so far I\'ve done about 12 to 14 somewhere this weekend...with some planning, sketching for the armour, some measurements in coreldraw for the \'engine\' and then work on it...but still i am going to slow :(

I am going to struggle with the plasticard trying tomake armour. No idea how to sculpt it, so figuring plasticard best way to make it appear like metal (ie. flat/straight) and use clays to sculpt lizardmen icons on the surface...

Anyways,

Sanjay :)

hehe

it\'s a plasma ball damnit!!! :) :) :)

*chases Provoke_Me with an axe*

the Engine of the Gods is a Warhammer lizardmen dinosaur siege weapon. In the Lustria rule book, it has a gyroscope onit\'s back but it\'s conversion only, so people can put whatever on it\'s back. Most people will use a stegadon model and put something on it.

SInce it\'s a competition entry, and my painting/sculpting isn\'t that good, (compared to all the other Golden demon entries), I need some real show stopper.

You will see when I complete it... if I complete it before I end up shooting myself from frustration/sadness :(

Hey there Tracy, good job there and good luck for the auction!

StarFyre, you\'re one brazy castard! ;)
When you first posted about this, I thought, \"yeah, whatever...\", but this is developing to become some serious kick-ass \"mini\" you\'re doing there... And hey, nevermind if you don\'t make it in time for GD, I\'m rather sure there will be one next year, too. Just make sure to show us pics when it\'s done.
Btw, can you enter stuff in GD UK after showing the pic online? (not sure about the legal mumbo-jumbo there...)

well....

i got my ticket for games day uk already and will get flight this or next week as i want to meet some friends there too...so...i have to be ready.

once all conversion/sculpting work done, will take a week or so off work to paint as much as possible so that the last weeks will not be as rushed.

oh and rules don\'t say anything about showing pics.It\'s my work; not theirs, so I own it. Can do whatever I like with it :)

Wow Sanjay, this is your first sculpt? It is really awesome! Keep going and don\'t give up. I really do want to see it finished.

:(

Yes...first sculpt :( :( :(

i am happy with it but at same time, since I am spending money to go to england, I now think i made mistake :( :( I\'m just not good enough for it...

I hope I can atleast place for a trophy (since gold or a sword would be way out of my league)...

Still, all free time from now till then goes into this model (except for my time working out...health more important still)

I will take some head shots tonite...i made a mistake on the head as well, but the armour i will put on head will hide it :)

here are some updated pics....

I made one change...that crease in the centre of lower jaw..i added more to the left side to make it more even as now, it was too far to the right.

Either way, the tongue will cover most of it so no big deal but still :)

Overall, the face is ok...i think. the issue i have is i made it too flat, so it looks strange. Just has those ridges/lines in it to define it. However, i am happy with the eyes...i made sockets, put spheres of brown stuff into them..then an hour later, made small lids over it and filled the front of the holes a bit.

there will be head armour on this thing to hide parts of the head (if i can figure out this plasticard stuff :( )

Also, the headpiece will have 2 long bone spikes sticking forward around the bottom jaw...one will be broken..and the head frill has holes in it to indicate torn flesh and the headpiece will prob be \'damaged\' as well.

it appears i can\'t take next week off work so the week after probably. some bits I need won\'t arrive for a week so if i can get everything possible done by next week, i can start to prime portions of it i guess *shrug* ...or i can do the base or something until the bits i need arrive. this is really going down to the wire :( :( :(

THe 4 days off work to paint should help. flight to england is sept 22nd night!!!

:(

Ok Sanjay, I think you\'re being to hard on yourself, and that may compromise this project.
Besides, you underestimate your work.
First sculpt? Amazing!
Just keep at it. Even if at the end you\'re not terribly happy with it, I\'m sure you\'ll feel much more confident to start another sculpting project because of the experience you got with this one.

Amazing is a bit of an understatement.

StarFyre: i really haven\'t read all of your discription because there\'s a lot there to read and i\'m lazy, but that\'s the coolest tissue holder i\'ve ever seen!

Just kidding, i HAVE read it all and man, that\'s looking awesome and it\'s coming together WAY faster than anything i\'ve seen before. Shoe in for a million and three awards, hands down, no questions asked. Awesome work and sorry for the scare;)

...

thanks ...but sadly, my painting skills are no where close to the standards of the winners (so even if the model itself looks cool, i don\'t know if i can do it justice).

And i don\'t like NMM Much, since it doesn\'t look real (not that I can blend well enough for it :p :p ), so I will be using metallics with washes, which only seem to do well in france/spain (but the stuff there blows away everything in every other GD competition anyways).

Here is the most advanced of the ME #4 elves: I used VMC royal purple for the shading wash on the gold instead of brown. What do you think?

effect is similar

Maybe it\'s just me, but the effect looks similar to a reddish brown. How many washes did you do? Does it need one last thin very dark wash to give the final darkest areas?

@ Starfyre--I had just used one purple wash. I did some with brown too; here is a comparison pic that might show the difference better.

I\'m glad you like those models and those golds look great! Remeber a shadow is a mix of all colors combined! I bet it would look good if you put a green wash and a red wash. I would of go in this order: Chestnut, Red, Green, Purple, Brown buts thats just me. Make sure not to let it puddle! If you look Here and skip to the skin theres a great description on how to do a good wash.
Cheers!
