Works In Progress II

(laughing)

I used to work as a baggage smasher (note the use of \'smasher\') when I was going through school. Believe me, if you want it to get there in one piece, you will take it on carry on.

Your bag will be thrown, tossed, ejected, bounced off walls/bulkheads/belts, kicked, stomped, possibly searched, and overall mistreated in a fashion that is likely to have you crying at the end of the day.

Ever been in an L10-11 or a DC-10 and finding that last package just stuffed in a container and the belt has already moved away .. \'Hey Earl .. catch!\' .... bag ejected from plane at high speed to bounce off pavement and under moving tug going the other direction.

Seen it happen.

What did you build to put your minis into your luggage?

If i could find a box that won\'t compress from weight, then i would love to put it into my baggage instead of carrying it in a cardboard box in my hands on the flight.

Sanjay

Have you ever seen bagage handlers at work? My advice would be to take it as carry on. You don\'t want something you\'ve put so much work into damaged when your luggage is thown about.

Nice diorama tidico.. but how did he get up there? :D
He was given a leg up of course:D
Tim I think a ladder would spoil the whole effect but then I also think the place is to clean and not enough rubble lying around :D
So you think he asked one of the uruk- something something to help him up? lol

@ Sanjay: A practical question. How are you going to find electricity for the plasma bulb at games-day?

So far it\'s looking very cool, but I think the green could use a wash.

Na plenty of his own people around to do that for him why else do you think they are all stood around looking up at him:D

On the other hand they might have put him up there out of the way and are now saying \"Come on then clever cloggs lets see you get out of this one\":D

:(

I\'ve done tons of washes, attempts at blending, and drybrushes :(

Will try and clean up some attempted blends and add more washes when I can.

The model is self powered. The base is being done so late since had to plan stuff for the dino and the wires running thru it\'s get to the base, to where the circuit board will go, and the wires from there will be in the realistic water, going to the other side of teh base, where the battery pack (4 batteries) is and the batteries can be inserted).

Idea is set it at games day on the competition table, and stick in 4 batts, and let it run for the entire judging period :p

I just use a cardboard box and pack it with foam. I then pack other things around the box to make sure the baggage handlers dont stuff it up. From the size of your mini tho I would go to a cheepy shop and by a plastic carry case which in Oz you can buy for about $10AUD. I usually wrap my minis in tissues first before packing the foam around them. The trick is to make sure that the mini cant move. Good luck at the GD. Whens the next post of your mini?

In fact, the entire base IS the Groundforge display base... ;) ...or so it seems. I have one myself and some future plans for it as well...

@NetGuru so far looks nice. What colors are you using for flesh. I love the metals look aged and used as ogre armour should.

@Sanjay I hope you get your entry over to GD ok, I\'m looking forward to seeing this in the flesh.

I like this so far chap, it looks very impressive, but I keep on asking myself how did he get up there?

It\'s driving me mad!

The skin is done by stages of (all GW) Dark Flesh, Tanned Flesh, Dwarf Flesh and then Dwarf flesh and a little elf flesh.

Heres the final update before i finish the model and host it properly (using a decent picture!)

Heres my Dreadnought made similar to the GW veteran one. I\'m wondering how light of a highlight should I finish with?
