You can do it! Don't bog down just keep shuffling forward and stay on the path!

They are going to be awesome when they are done!

Insignia done. A combo of decals and over painting. Except Telion who has sculpted details.

The pics are crap so you can't really see the shading on the white and the red skull on the veteran, but its there. My new WIP camera is on the way as this one is having trouble with even basic lighting now, but it was one of the first digital cams out there - by HP no less! I will miss it, but only until the new one arrives next week  Once I weather and chip the armour these will be way more tied in. Pretty happy with how things are going though :curl-lip:

These are looking great Zab, solid colours and nice details. Going to be a good looking squad. Love it if you added a few more edge highlights on the armour!

Thanks, yeah I'll be adding more contrast, shading and highlights to the armour just before I do the weathering. The blue also looks flatter than it is in the pics ;)

Nice one. I really have to start working on weathering techniques, haven't quite got the hang of it so far. It goes against my 'everything must be neat and tidy' mind set lol. I'll be taking notes from yours!

Thanks! The bases are all recessed detail, though. You can buy them from secret weapon and half the proceeds go to the NOVA charity! I may have bought an extra set on top of the freebies I was sent for the NOVA project because they were so cool ;) As for the marines, I can see why everyone and their uncle does ultras now. The scheme just kind of falls into place and works quite nicely. I feel like an idiot for having never painted up Ultramarines before

Looking great as usual Zab. Those bases are really cool to. I know you said you bought them but did they come like that or did you airbrush a grey over them?

Well, I may have added rubble and carved in some cracks, but as to the painting: It was a shockingly simple technique from Dave Taylor who is wrangling all the NOCF artists.

Basecoat dark brown (GW rhinox hide)
Drybrush dark grey (VMC Dark Grey)
Drybrush medium grey (VMC London grey or GW mechanus standard grey)
Dry Brush mix of medium grey and light cream (mechanus standard grey/london grey + VMC Pale sand)
Wash thinned secret weapon Amethyst into recesses.

Ta-da!:brushwave:

Thanks guys :) Got the cloaks done. Still struggling with the new WIP cam a bit. The whites are way over exposed here so the stippled "snow" pattern on the cape look kind of blurry and not as nice and subtle as in person. Eventually the bases will have snow on them too, but that will come at the end with some crushed glass and water fx.

I did the insides of the capes too, red stuck out like crazy so i went for a toned down blue/grey to keep the winter feel.

Into the home stretch. Armour and weathering next
