Abel

first of all let me apologize for the dark pic. it's a scan and i really don't have the money to install a semi professional studio in my flat. this is my second highlight attempt... this guy turned out quite ok eventhough the poor metal quality gave me several heartattacks when his leg broke off... but nothing some greenstuff can't fix... he is all metallics as you can see... and proud of it. i wanted a darker metal than my templar though. abel is longer around as a champ than a little whimpy templar! :) tried to follow petethemighty's advice and go lighter on my highlights (red, purple). hope it looks better. i really like the face on this guy... especially because i was always afraid of faces till i finished this. if i could do something again then that would be the runes... not glowing at aaaaall... but hey... still learning... comments are most welcome... don't just grade me... throw something at me! comments i mean...

The face is what makes this mini for me. I love the 'battlescar' and the addition of colors in it. Good stuff.

thank you dragonsreach. it is an honour to get such a great grade from you. i love your work. i think my two years of painting have not made my hand stable enough yet to work on such small areas and even highlight in'em but i'll give my best when i paint my inquisitors. they have the same kinda runes. i don't dare touch abel again. :) i'm sure i'll ruin him.

This is a good mini the metallics work. Even though I'm leaning toward NMM myself this shows exactly how good painting of metalics can equal NMM. The face is a very good effort and has the hardened look of a veteran. Red & purple highlights are clean and not too bright for the overall feel of the piece. As you said the runes on the sword do need to be picked out a little more but otherwise this is a good, well painted mini. Well done.
