Crimson Fist Space Marine

I realize that this model is not a Golden Demon winning showpiece of painting skill, but I am personally satisfied with it. It also isnt the most detailed photo, so I'll try to get better ones when I can. For my Space Marine army, I wanted to a less heraldric (a la GW) look, and more of the "gritty-realism" sci-fi look. I used muted military colors (Tamiya in this case) airbrushed on over a black undercoat to achieve this. This step also accomplished my main shadowing effort. I only sprayed the blue in a "halo of light" pattern, so that natural shadowing would be left where the paint did not fall. It is a very subtle effect, and requires some enhancing afterward. You can see that I used white lining to pick up the edges after I used black and brown inks to weather the armor. The chest tubes are simply highlighted with a single coat of grey, and then given a couple brown ink washes, I think this lends the appearance of old, dirty, used rubber. I personally think the overall result appears menacing and ominous - like a space marine should be.

I think this one is really underrated, especially as this was done with an arbrush, a powerful tool , but ahrd to use - i know. you did a great job at weathering him, the armor has the look of faded steel with paint worn off at the edges - great effect. Why don´t you post a squad of theose, you surely didn´t paint one.
