Moe, it is looking very good and like the tones. The gold is making the color pop further. Also how are you getting the nice shiny look on Mystique? Glossy paint or just a gloss clear coat? It definately fits the model.

@trystan-- get after that mini. Us slackers need to live vicariously through those getting some painting done :D

@TrystanGST That is Francesca Lucchini from Strike Witches. I have herd good things about it. Its in my anime list to watch on netflix. Right now I'm watching High School of the Dead, which is pretty pervy but you really get into the characters and the artwork is fabulous imho. That kit however looks like a pain in the ass ;) I'm looking forward to you painting her up.

@KruleBear Thanks dude. Kathrynloch (thanks Kath) mentioned duplicoat paint for a more affordable primer and I'm always trying new stuff. So while i was trying to find some i found a brand called dupli-color. I dunno if its the same stuff or not, but it works really good. They had a "protective clear coat finish" and the other stuff i was using sucked so grabbed it. I gotta say its the best clear coat ive ever used so far. Smells like hell though but works really good.

I won WIP OF THE DAY at E2046.com. That was kinda flattering. Go me! hehehe

Wont be doing much for the next few days till my work rotation is over

Moe - it is indeed. The series is AWESOME. High School of the Dead is great too. The kit's not too bad - I just need to get my colors picked and I may get spraying this weekend.

I wanted to see different angles with the light in a certain spot. I wanted to see if i wanted to try shading in a new way... dunno yet

Not sure where I'm going with this. I know I don't want to replicate LR's work..we will see:
IMG_0317.jpg

Back to Raistlin:
Cleaned and ready to go
IMG_0319.jpg

Base coated in a bunch of different reds..Honestly i just started grabbing and mixing till i liked it. With airbrush:
IMG_0321.jpg

First highlight of RMS bloodstained red and RMS HD crimson red 50/50% with airbrush:
IMG_0323.jpg

IMG_0324.jpg

Citadel Baal red wash, three watery coats:
IMG_0329.jpg

Watery down RMS pure black and put in all the deep parts: From here on its all Hand brushes:
IMG_0338.jpg

Start highlighting the most raised spots:
IMG_0340.jpg

While that was drying i started on His head:
For those that have not read at least the very first three of the dragonlance books, The ones that started it all, Raistlin was one of the main characters and his skin was the color of gold, and his eyes were pupils shaped like hourglass. Probably wont do the eyes but i got plans for the skin and hair:

Three watery coats of RMSTarnished brass. the hair was RMS factory white also three watery coats:
IMG_0342.jpg

IMG_0344.jpg

Looks good to me so far:
IMG_0346.jpg

Baal wash again to tone down the harsh highlights a bit:
IMG_0348.jpg

IMG_0350.jpg

Very Watery wash of druchii violet. a ton of coats all over the hair and the face:
IMG_0351.jpg

IMG_0352.jpg

Picking out the highlights with factory white again progressiviely mixed with the druchi ink till the upper most are almost pure factory white. Later i might go all the way to pure white.
IMG_0354.jpg

IMG_0355.jpg

IMG_0356.jpg

I think he is coming along just fine at this stage:
IMG_0357.jpg

Also worked on the devil girl. finished her eyes, and the highlights are me with a brush. Also these may not be safe for work:

IMG_0361.jpg

IMG_0362.jpg

I'll try to finish her base tonight.

Three very nice models. The transitions on Raistlan are outstanding. It also looks like a nice clean model to paint.

P.s. Been awhile since i read it but wasn't he simply an albino until he went dark? I thought the gold skin and dark robes occured about the same time? Do not quote me though as i think senility is starting to kick in.

Thanks alot KB :) He was normal looking till he went to take his test of the red robes. Been a while since i read it also. I believe Fistandantalis(sp?) showed up from the past and offered him power for some of his health to pass the test. As a result it changed his skin gold and everyone he looked at through his hourglass eyes always appeared old and dieing.

I swear i have ADHD or something. It's really more of a "i hate wasting paint" thing.

That rings a bell Moe. It still looks awesome. After watching your past few models, i am going to have to pull that expensive air brush out and see what i can do with it (i am thinking painted fingers, clothes, desk, wall, and carpet...and hpefully some on the mini ;) ).

Do it! DO IT! ahem.....hehe. I was really nervous when i started using it but after a few goes you start to get a feel for it. Now I'm thinking about different approaches to GK scale kits and smaller.

Been lazy today just did a little on the Deamon prince.
IMG_0366.jpg

I think he is looking kinda gross.

It is indeed!

I think a lot of people (well army painters are people still, I think) use airbrushes to do basecoats and other volume work. Not sure I'd try to do a single mini GD entry with one. Except a tank or something, of course.

As for Francesca - I know, I know. Slacking. I'm on a roll with Simba's Pride here, so I'm going with the flow.

I understand about the painting Chi. Keep on keeping on.

Update: Going to try to get some more malifaux stuff done, as my son has shown an interest. If all goes well we may even be playing more games together. It will be nice to bond with him.

VikS!

Working on Raistlin a bit and a size comparison of 32mm and 54mm for those who wondered:
IMG_0370.jpg

I actually prefer the naughtier Viktorias, but i wanted the Avatar Viks to look close to the same.
IMG_0371.jpg

@Krulebear Remember this one?
IMG_0373.jpg

Was one of my best friends main D and D character mini's when we were kids. Going to redo the paintjob and send that to him when i'm done.

More later

I like it. Never had that one but the range looks very familiar ;).

The Malifaux minis look nice (i do not recognize that set though). How were they to prep? I opened my Lady Justice set to make sure eerything was there and it looked like a lot of flash on them...maybe i can have them painted by 2015 and start playing a game :D.

For the most part they have been ok to prep. The metals are easy for the most part. pinning some of the smaller ones sucks though. I'm looking forward to the plastics and the various options they will have.

Update:

I told my son i would paint one of his leaders and i would teach him how to paint the rest to look Similar. He decided he kinda liked the arcanists group but he really liked the way the gremlins looked. However I've only got the Ophelia lacroix set, which happened to be the one he liked most. Ok Np we will add more later if he really likes it.
So Ophelia my dear, please step forward:
IMG_0377.jpg

Got some new paints i havent tried yet so some of these are new to me. Skin i did in RMS Clear green then a wash of liquitex phthalocyanine green ink (Blue shade). Say that three times fast eh? It is a deep blue30% and greenish70% in color. It worked really good for this:
IMG_0378.jpg

I went back over it in the higher up areas with clear green again:
IMG_0379.jpg

Like normal i missed a few stages of pics. LOL. but i did write it down.
I wanted to stick to the original artwork for the most part so blue jeans and purple top. For the pants I used RMS Aurthurian blue base then added Blue crescent then aurthurian blue. For the top i used RMS Twilight purple adding royal purple then violet shade then violet shade on its own. Her lips i did the same as her top.
IMG_0380.jpg

For the browns i used RMS suntan flesh and covered those ares:
IMG_0381.jpg

I then used 50/50 mix of RMS brown ink and water:
IMG_0382.jpg

IMG_0383.jpg

I then went over the higher areas with just suntan flesh
IMG_0384.jpg

Used the new GW leadbelcher(boltgun metal) on the gun:
IMG_0385.jpg

Used GW VMA rust on the buckles and on parts of the gun
IMG_0386.jpg

Used the Brown ink mix on her gun then based her hair with RMS auburn shadow then added carrot top red then highlight orange then just highlight orange alone.
IMG_0387.jpg

I then picked out the metal parts with VMA chrome. I then touched up the highlights a tad:

Very nicely done Moe! The only thing I might add would be some highlights to the hair to give it a bit more depth.

Thanks Tee999!

OK first off, this is Clare from the anime series Claymore. I hear good things, i even have the series on DVD, but i can't seem to keep from nodding off before the end of episode 2. However one of my best friends loves the show with a passion. So this is going to be his xmas gift, when its complete that is.
IMG_0402.jpg

Clean up was a snap with this kit, there was hardly any mold lines at all. Here are the legs connected to the waist:
IMG_0404.jpg

IMG_0405.jpg

Her face was perfect, no flaws at all:
IMG_0406.jpg

The sword was a little warped, so i ran it under some tap water running full hot for about 5 minutes and formed it back into shape:
IMG_0408.jpg

The back of her neck had a small bubble but with her head attached you will never see it:
IMG_0407.jpg

Here is everything cleaned up with soap and water and pinned with wine corks. Time to start painting!
IMG_0409.jpg

I started by primering everything white. I then started with the main colors using the Daggerbliss airbrush. The grey i used was GW codex grey, and the silver was VMA chrome.
IMG_0410.jpg

IMG_0411.jpg

BTW this was my first experience with VMA and i am a true believer. This stuff was awesome. I tried it right out of the bottle and thinned down both and it was just awesome.

This is the part of the wip that i forgot to take pics of. The base i primed black. Then i just started grabbing paints trying to get a marble type effect. I wanted the lettering to be red so i wanted the marblish areas green. After all that dried i threw on a Gloss clear-coat. I plan on doing more with the lettering later. So how do you guys think it came out?
IMG_0413.jpg

Here is she is at 75% finished on her base:
IMG_0414.jpg

IMG_0415.jpg

Thats her head in the background basecoated. I'll be doing that with a brush. Hows she lookin so far?

Looking really good so far. Glad to hear a review on the VMA because i have been wanting to get some. I have a couple kits in my shopping cart on e2046 but have been afraid to pull the trigger. After seeing yours I am going to give it a try. Good stuff sir.
