@ten ball - I don't know if I would do commissions often. This is more a favour for someone I know. But then again, I haven't been asked by anyone else. I've quite enjoyed the fact that he wanted them to sort of match previously painted minis which were painted to a good tabletop standard. It means that I can finish one in a couple of painting sessions without agonising over it not looking just like the idea I have in my head. So, from that point of view, it's been a great experience to force me to loosen up.

That's how it starts. A favour here, a charity there, the odd contest win and before you know it you are booking clients and weeks of work at a time. Some love it, some quit for a bit and come back just to do it for fun again. I like the Charity part, the exchanges and the odd interesting commission for fun. Not sure i could do it full time though. Working for me would be hard. I'm a total dick and I track my hours religiously. I doubt i would cut me any slack.

@Zab - Doing something for charity would be interesting. And I might do the odd commission piece (rather than a whole army), but I paint for the love of it and I wouldn't want to ruin that by making it my job. Plus I'm nowhere near good enough to be inundated with commission requests anyway so that's fortunate.

Here be Dragon

It was YetiSA's wife's birthday today. She happens to also be my best friend, so I made and painted her a dragon to look after her and make her smile.

He's made from Fimo Classic and Professional on a wire armature. Painted using acrylics.

YetiSA says he'll take some better quality photos for me when he has a chance. I'll definitely put those up for closer inspection by you fine folks when I get them. But I wanted to share this happy little guy with you in the meantime.

@YetiSA - It's good that she likes it considering I made it with her in mind. And I managed to get him finished in time in between assignments! *w00t*

@bgcdazzler - Who knows. Seems I may be destined to make cute critters. We could go into business - The Cute and The Dangerous - a double act. Although I really admire the realism of your pieces (even when they're demons and orcs).

WOW Arch, that little guy is awesome. And don't worry Bam just dabble a little blood from the blood god in a couple spots and he will be everybit of a fierce dragon you need him to be. I love it and think your doing so well on the sculpting. I need to push harder on myself to keep up with you and Dazz.

Really cute dragon I thought the purple and green one was a separate paint job but I guess that's the colour of the clay?

@Maenas - They're actually the same sculpt. I didn't have enough of any colour to make it properly, so he ended up looking a bit mottled. So I had fun painting him and I'm glad that you like the finished product. I'll go back and add labels to the pics because I didn't make it clear. I'm glad you like him though.

LooooL Sorry about that! I really thought they were two, but now that you mention it I see that the first one is not painted xD The head of the "green one" is what made me think of it being painted, because it looks like a green dragon with a purple gradation in it!! Maybe you can play with that on your next project ^^

@Maenas - The confusion is totally understandable! That's why I included labels for people retroactively. I've already started my next project, but I'll be experimenting more with colour mixing as I go along. So stay tuned.
