    Teaching painting

I\'ve been trying to get a painting workshop started at my local gaming hang-out. Yesterday, two youngsters came in at noon (it normally starts at 3pm) and painted until about 6:30, with a few breaks in between. They had seen me taking pictures of another guy\'s minis the week before, and...

    Painting black hair

I was in the grocery store last night, and I saw a woman with very long, straight black hair. I noticed that her hair had dark brown highlights. I\'ve also seen dark hair with dark auburn highlights. Has anyone tried painting black hair and using either dark brown or auburn as highlights...

    Chopping paint brush handles

I paint using a lighted magnifier. The problem I\'m having is that the brush handles sometimes clink on the magnifier when I\'m trying to paint. I\'m tempted to cut down the handles, but there is something about intentionally damaging the handle of a $15.00 paint brush that I just can\'t deal...

    Verocithrax

I\'ve just gotten Verocithrax from Reaper. There are some suggestions for how to paint the figure on the box, but I\'m not real keen on it. Anyone have some ideas?

Molding sculpts - multipart or single

When designing a sculpt, how do you know if it will need to be cast as one piece, or if it can be cast as multiple parts? Or is that something that is usually determined by the company casting the fig? How smooth does the outer skin of the fig have to be? For intance, if there is a faint line...

    Packing stuff for shipment

Does anyone have suggestions or comments on how to package items for shipment? It would really suck to have a nicely painted fig get trashed in the mail. I\'m especially interested in ideas for sending pices that would be particularly delicate. For instance a dragon, with large sweeping wings.

    Article: Basic Tools

If you want to clean a plastic palette, spray it with Simple Green and let it soak a few hours. Will be very clean afterwards. I've tried storing paints in a pallet by covering them with a dampened paper towel and placing them in a plastic bag. But the towel eventually falls into the paint...

    Kodak Magnification Lenses

I tried to photograph my CMON entry using a Kodak 240i digital zoom camera. Unfortunately, this camera doesn\'t take very good Macro pictures. I ended up shooting the pictures through a lighted magnifying glass, with mediocre results. If you want to see the resulting image, check this link...

    Another \"How to\"?

I\'ve been thinking about another \"how to\" article. I\'ve read a lot of articles, and found that most of them are geared towards a person that already has some painting skills. The techniques they talk about are great if you\'ve already been painting a while and have some basic brush skills...

    Windsor Newton Cirrus 110 Brushes

I\'ve been trying to find WN S7 brushes locally. I\'m in Jacksonville, FL. Absolutely no luck. Last night, I came across something called a \"Cirrus 110\". According to some research I\'ve done this morning, the Cirrus 110 is a pure Kolinsky sable brush, manufactured to very high standards...

    Primers

Does anyone have favorite primers? I\'ve tried GW, and I\'m not very happy with it. Maybe I just don\'t know how to use the stuff or something. Seems to go on too thick. The last time I used it, it was really messy. Bubbles in the paint, real thick in the recesses, very disappointing...

    Painting with tube acrylics

I\'m sure this will probably get some laughs, but does anyone paint with regular artist tube acrylics? For examble, Basics? I\'m curious, because that\'s what I started painting with and I still like them better than regular model paints. I like to paint a black base, then highlight with...
