Thanks guys.

Gandalf, the red you see on the jacket is just a base coat. I'll go over it with a lighter red, then highlight and shade.

Krule, what do you have against grey shoes? Some people prefer to have their feet blend into the pavement. It's top of the line foot camouflage.

One more update, some more red work, a small change in the socks and shoes and a bit of an accident so he's now standing in blu-tack instead of being pinned. But there was no damage done so it's okay. Next time you see it he will be finished.

They might be correct, but the socks seem too bright to me. They draw my eye away from the rest of the awesome paint work.

Lovely work. KB could have a point about the socks, they may need a glaze with a very very thin dark blue just to tone them down and match them to the kilt a bit better.

Wonderful stuff Flu. The tartan is really awesome. I love the socks. They remind me of the kind of socks my mother made me wear when going to church back in the day, but they do draw the eye a tad.

These aren't the final, lightboxed, photos but he is all set and on the base. I did a few thin washes on the socks to try and tone them down, then used some pigments to dirty him up. The idea for the base is the Battle of Alexandria which went down near the ruins of Nicopolis.
