I am still thinking this is your brightest work up to date. ;)
Great work on the freehand, face, and trousers so far... base is starting great too!

Thanks a lot, guys. Again, I don't have a lot of time to paint right now, but I did manage to get the second arm on him. Then next big step is the cape design, that will surely be a multi-day project, then it's just the hands, sword, gun and metal things on the boots and he's done. Here's some shots of his other arm, sans hat and with hat. It's hard to get the face to come out right with the hat on, I'll have to make many small lighting adjustments when taking final pics.

I did some slight adjustments on the shirt, and did some freehand on the cape. Not too sure how I feel about it just yet.

The lower portion of the capes freehand looks nice, but the upper portion looks odd. Not sure why...possibly because it is hard for the eye to see the pattern in the smaller area.

I think it's the fade from brightred to vibrant light red that makes it look a bit odd, mostly so in that lowest sway of cloth on the upper part...

Other than that, the lower part looks really interesting, are you going to give the freehand some more contrast or keep it like this with a more faded, subtle look?

I did some more work on the back, I tried to reduce that large shadow on the upper part and show more of the pattern, hopefully it looks less weird. As for the bottom I wanted to keep it subtle, this is his back after all and there may not be a lot of light to make the pattern pop.

That's it that the FERKIN winner ... Lol great stuff. I'm sure it person it looks just how you mean to have it. Try a white backdrop. I think that should show how lovely it is.;)

Thanks, BAM, I can try a white backdrop and see if that changes anything. Only update I have today is the base, put some more paint on it.

New mini project, a name plate for AWL since the water didn't work out. I'm going to try my best Sproket impersonation with all the rust and aging on it. So far I did the base color, and then wrote the script on with a micron pen, once it dries I'll go over it in paint.

Here is the "finished" product. I'm going to add heavy gloss gel to make it look like water is spilling over the brim and dripping on the sign, hence all the rust.

Great idea on the water dripping.

By the way I voted and commented on your "musketeer" the only thing that I do not like from that model are the shinny hinges of the structure behind (they distract me from the face a bit). The rest, for me is a ten ;)
You even managed to put texture to the red robe wrapped at his belt... ^^

Voted on the musketeer for ya, I really like that rusty label you've got, looks really good :)

Thanks a lot guys, and thanks for the votes. Maenas, I agree with you. It wasn't until I put up the pictures and saw them on another computer monitor that I realized how glaring they are. I'll have to go back and correct that, also if you noticed my blog post on the figure, I misspelled his name on the nameplate! So I have correct that too. lol

And I'm just now seeing that the center "L" on the AWL nameplate missed all forms of rust and weathering, I'll correct that too!

Don't paint while tired, people.
