I have too many interests! But I thank you for bearing with me and my sporadic updates. I love taking a look through CMON and seeing what you're all up to. In fact, it's one of the first things I do in the morning while I'm still thawing out. I am not a happy, leap out of bed morning person - approach with caution....and tea.

But I digress...

Just a quick update. Still working on DR's chibi fox idea. I've also started basecoating Aradicus and Pickles (my chibi wizard and baby dragon). I used two different polymer clays when I was working on him - Fimo Classic and Filani (South African product). So he's continuing to be my guinea pig as I see whether or not they take acrylic paint the same way. I'll post some pics in the next couple of days when I've got more done.

Hope all is well with you fabulous folks. :) :brushwave:

Firstly, my birthday present from YetiSA and his good wife arrived:

There was much excitement and happy dancing! I can't wait to try them out!

And now a painting update.... (don't be too shocked Teronus)

I've blocked in the basecoats for Aradicus and Pickles and painted up their eyes (I like to start there in case I make a huge boo-boo):

The colours aren't set in stone and Pickles is going to be a much brighter green. I'm also intending to have fun trying different techniques (and my inks!) as I go along. Let me know if you have any suggestions for colours etc.

Happy painting! :brushwave:

Congratulations on your presents! ^^
You had two wait a little bit long for they to arrive? or is just my memory wrong?

Now that Aradicus and his companion have paint on I must say that you got a smooth finish on the sculpt!! ^^

Your memory isn't wrong. Combination of one item being out of stock and us living at the outer edge of the known universe meant that the package took a loooong time to reach us.

Oh, I had to wait a full month to buy those inks at my usual shop and finally as the sets did not arrive I bought the bottles separately since the shop guy offered me the same discount as buying them in a set (I was asking every week for them so I suppose he just wanted me to be happy).

Nicely done so far. I would suggest on the brighter green you have in my for the lil dragon dude should be along the lines of the eyes and their green...a nice carry over.:)

Believe it or not, that's the plan. Its also why I made the dragon's eyes purple to tie in with the wizard's hat.

loving those tone colours, so bright and vibrant! reminds me of the cartoon mages i used to see as a kid. your eyes are looking absolutely amazing. you got a good pupil shape and i'm loving the placement of the reflection light and the little iris lines you did with the green (also green is my favorite colour so i love them even more). just one thing to possibly consider: maybe put a small trim of darker green around the edge of the iris. i'm not entirely sure why but most mammalian creatures have this dark ring and it may help your eyes pop even more, especially since most cutsey and chibi style art tends to emphasize this line (drawing cute art is kind of my guilty pleasure :embarrassed:).

@meaty_nosebleeds - I'm glad you approve of the work so far. :) I'm aiming for a cartoon feel with vibrant colours, but I don't want it to be too unrealistic. There are actually three different greens in the wizard's iris, including a darker one towards the edge. I think I got a bit carried away with the lighter tones though and lost the dark edge I was intending to have. I'll see if I can bring it back in. Thanks for the feedback.
