BloodFather's Axis of Chaos

Yeah, they would make a good CB project. Although that will probably have to wait until the 2016 show. I'm still waiting for the kickstarter to begin and I doubt they'll be delivered before March.

I'd guess 8-10 weeks for Gokan is a safe estimate. It'll be a busy few months so January is probably the earliest I'd get to it.

Yeah that's true. With any KS it's safest not to plan any comps around them. Still, very interested to see your lineup. I must say, I am truly a fan of your current project. Love how the metals came out. I think I asked you for a recipe but then checked my email and I subscribe to your blog so saw your SBS. You really do a great job of those.

Man, really pumped for Gokan. Super pumped, in fact. I have been thinking of giving him a sort of golden red highlight on the skin, Native American-like. Might actually use the same colors I use for my gold NMM on his skin in places. Then a variety of reds around the mid tones, followed by some sickly green gray in the shadows. My new joy in life is glazing funky colors on skin. My current project has red, purple, Ratskin flesh, Bugman's Glow, Rakarth flesh, Rhinox hide....you name it. You'd think I'd have a veritable rainbow but it all actually blends well together. Anyhow...

Consequently, I currently have 8/10 votes on P&P on my first ever display mini. Looks like I may medal for the first time (my HassleFree dark elf has been up for months and didn't make the cut-I blame it on the base). So if any of my adoring fans have P&P accounts, and haven't voted yet, and think me deserving, please visit this link:

I only use the cross hatch on the shades and highlights not on the base color unless I'm using a primer trick 9 at shading then I will use the base as the mid tone and blend it into the dark parts of the primer (black primer) I actually use three primers a black/a grey /and for the very tops a white or Zander I ddust . These guide me when blending g in my shades and highlights..but rarely I do this..mostly used for the shadows and highlights..

Ahh I see. Yeah I have done "Zenithal Priming" before and it is very useful. Lately, though I've just primed everything white because I prefer the vibrant look. As far as cross hatching when HLing or shading, I don't think I could do that. Well, I suppose I could do it, but I prefer to stroke in the direction of the shade or HL. But I think I'll experiment a bit. BaM are you getting in on this paint a long for Gokan?

Sadly no I'm working diligently on a myriad of crystal brush entries..I know I know I suck... it's terrible. The Gokan is such a gr8 mini too.yeah CB is eating up most of my time ..and to boot I owe my gaming store over 510.00 dollars so I won't be buying anything for awhile.. :.. (

Hey got some painting in this weekend. Finished his armor so it's all downhill from here. Really looking forward to painting all of the dead heads he has displayed. There are 5 of them, plus I'll have 3 or so more severed heads on the base. Time to break out the sickly greens and cold blues, reds and purples. To fit in with this, I have done the NMM steel on his axe using a range of VMC gray greens. I like the result, though likely won't use it elsewhere on the steel edging of his armor. Unsure how to tackle all of the colors on him yet. Also not sure if I want to include verdigris for sure on his armor. It just came out so good that I don't want to muck it up.

Difficult not to be impressed. Do you think you can push the chest highlight a little more ? It may be me or the photo but it's a tad flat.

Yup Gandalf, will push all the skin lighter as it got a bit washed out at some point. It is brighter than it appears above but definitely could use some more contrast. Thank you friend.

Also that big purple vein will get a glaze of the basecoat over it so that the purple is reduced to just the base of the vein on either side.

:) Looks good! That blend on the side of the axe sure is smooth. Are you going to do anything to mess with it? It's big enough you could do some freehand :) Like, maybe a chaos symbol?

I do think you need punch up the highlights on the armor more, before you start throwing the verdigris at it. Maybe find a spot you like on his helmet and see what a spot of pure white looks like?

Ok, I couldn't resist messing with it in photoshop. I think those cylindrical sections of armor are made for nmm highlights dude.

Should have trusted in my BaM from the beginning. I actually made the shoulder armor a blue steel at first. Then I said damnit, shoulda listened to BaM and went all copper. It does put off a sort of ancient, brutal evil that way...

Was just considering this very thing today, Demi, and I appreciate your sneak preview. Yes indeed, you have convinced me to go pure white in some spots. Updates soon...

As far as the axe... This is actually going to end up being a very, very bloody scene. So not sure if a chaos symbol would be visible beneath all the blood i have planned...muhahahahaha!!!!
