CMON-ers in miniatures

@Mosch : Why did I imagine you with a beard :p ;)? Actually, I was mostly inspired by a pic of Arthur on the PYP thread during Halloween. Some of the armor comes from a comic by Olivier Ledroit and Pat Mills. Well if you like the design for Arthur, you\'ll be happy to learn that I have his permission to cast it :).

[edit]
@Mosch : I have no problem with you using it as portrait for your next RPG character, but check with Arthur (frenchkid) ;).

@Becca : Thank you very much :).

Beard, na, I wouldn\'t want a mini of me, just of the character I imagine... and that looks exactly like the character I thought of. Really, this is stunningly like the picture in my head. I don\'t care who it is supposed to be, I want it.
Haven\'t seen the picture in the PYP-thread by the way, increasing the strange part about this. I AM going through the thread right now to find the pic though ;)

Once again, I am stunned.

Wow, seems a lot of CMONers are being put into lead (well, GS at least). And i\'ll try to put up new WIP pics of DR later today if i can.

On a seperate note. If i use a Magic the Gathering card for concept art, but don\'t make the mini for profit am i infringing on any copyrights?

@Margo : Thank you very much :). So that means that everybody from the first batch accepts casting :flip:.

@Itchy : I can\'t wait to see your version of DR :). I guess that if you use MtG for private inspiration uses, you don\'t risk any lawyers from WotC barging through your door ;). But ask Ming-Hua, he\'s great on IP and stuff like that ;).

Origineel geplaatst door green stuff@Margo : thanks. I think I have all I\'ll need
Er, if I can make another suggestion. I would suggest two extra views. That is, a side view the face and a full length front view. Both for Margo and Anja and anybody else you\'d be sculpting.

One problem I found when sculpting a face from a photograph is that you tend to loose your feeling of depth. So you risk the face ending up flat. One thing that helps is if you have views from different direction. Especially perpendicular from eachtother. As to the full length pic. Well, in the case of Margo, she\'s very slender so I expect she is somewhat different from the artistic average diagrams (in any case from the one I send you). A full length front and side view can help figuring out the right height/width proportions.

By the way, if you\'re really serious about sculpting CMON members I may just join in for the fun of it. When I find the time. Sounds like a fun exercise. And doing portraits can help me avoiding the \"all faces are the same\" thing many sculptors end up with. Not now though. Still, people keep the sketches coming, I may just get inspired. :)

Bye, Ming-Hua

I\'m not a specialist but having worked my way through several discussions and sites I know a little of it. This is actually a tough one. Thing is, making a drawing based on MTG art for yourself is no problem since this can be seen as exercise. Having somebody make a sculpt from that drawing though, that could be a problem. Same with casting. Thing is, this is something that could get fought out in court and that\'s just not worth it. If you let yourself be inpired by the art and leave everything out that is specific for that artwork (guy in medieval armour storming a rampart is ok, armour having the non-historic design and filigrane from the drawing is not). Anyway, from the way I understand it. IP lawyers, feel free to fill in the gaps and make corrections.

Well, although it would be pretty cool to have a mini sculpted directly after me, I\'m not sure I would feel that comfortable being a \"model\". Just sculpt it like you want to greenstuff. But thanks for the info anyways Ming-Hua. :)

@ Astonia, sure that\'s cool.

@IPM, totally forgot. Extravagant with a cordless mike. How about a conversion of the rock chick? http://www.spyglassminiatures.com/front.htm
Even if that staff is better for a mike with stand. :)

@ freakinacage I\'ll see if I can find a pic. Unfortuantely digital cameras wasn\'t around at the time, and film was expensive, so I don\'t think I have that many pics..:(

Awesome drawings!

Green Stuff - absoutely awesome drawings! You are incredibly talented and I can\'t wait to see the cast minis. Only one question - where\'s Margo\'s corset?:D

Well, I described my mini and then Tracy (TAB) went and painted it and put it up for auction! It\'s the Lanyssa Ryssyll, Nyss Sorceress (but she carries a BIG sword!), by Privateer Press.

Her mini has brown hair, but I\'d have red hair and done in greens like Tracey did hers. Scott actually has this mini and showed it to me saying it reminded him of me! Ah, how warped minds think alike!lol Anyway, I\'m hoping he\'ll paint it for me.

@Eric - If you decide to wear your minis suit you\'ll definitely have to let us know your office mates reaction!

Weird question to everyone - When you hear a particular song do you see yourself in particular clothes or doing something special? Talking about Eric\'s suit reminded me that every time I hear Audioslave\'s \"Show Me How to Live\" I envision myself striding down the street in the outfit that Trinity wears in \"The Matrix.\" Am I weird or does everybody do that?

weird

i\'ve never walked down the street dressed as trinity from the matrix... but i\'m sure we\'d all love to see a picture of you doing it!lol

@Itchy - Thanks - I\'d like to try it sometime, but I\'ll have to wait for Halloween. For one thing, it\'s too darn hot down here to try it during any time of the year but the fall or winter! Also, I\'d have to have a huge stereo set up somewhere nearby to blast out the music to completely set the scene! lol

So I take it you\'ve never envisioned yourself hacking and slashing while listening to Metallica and I am weird?

And I accept PayPal:bouncy:

Glad to hear you\'re on PayPal, but I\'m not set up to accept it! You\'ll just have to keep an eye on the PYP thread! Actually, the one recent pic of me Scott won\'t let me post. It\'s at a friend\'s birthday party, he was on a plane to Moscow, and I\'d had a little too much to drink! So...I haven\'t posted there yet, but I will soon.
