Okay I picked up some of the round lip 40mm bases from ebay. I will switch out the bottle cap for one of those. I am also sourcing some nice turned wood display plinths so we'll put her on one of those at least for the pictures.
I keep vacillating between wanting to start a major new project and wanting to paint less serious stuff. For now, less serious stuff is winning out. A while ago I picked up the GW Empire Duelists for like $12 in metal. I have a buddy who plays a character in our Dark Heresy (40k RPG) campaign that is loosely based on Midas Betancore from the Eisenhorn novels.
BTW if you can read, and you haven't read the Eisenhorn books you should stop what you are doing and read them RIGHT NOW. I would gladly recommend those novels to anyone that likes SciFi gamer or not.
So anyways, I got this beautiful Empire duelist fig and so what do I do with it? Convert it to 40K! Here is what I came up with:

Basically I just switched his matched flint locks for matched bolter pistols. I cut the clunky hammer off the back of the bolters to make them a little less massive. Holsters were obviously going to be totally ridiculous so I gave him a sword and a little pouch lifted from a SM scout box. In th esecond picture he is prayed with some red highlight and near black shadow. Going to paint him up in Red and Black Galvian Finery.
For the base I am going to have him standing on top of an inquisitorial seal, which has been an ongoing theme in our campaign. The more observant and worldly of you out there will recognize the Inquisitorial seal as being identical to the seal on a bottle of Tanqueray Gin, which has also been an ongoing theme in our campaigns

Hopefully I can place his feet so the "T" looks more like an "I" but either way it should get some laughs at the table.
