So demi, you know I despise all things emperor, but even I have to admit you did a great job on these guys. The orange is great as well, orks can clearly shoot orange objects better than blue. :)

Thanks guys! I used inks on the orange and it looked sort of cool and then I tried to fix it and it just got crappier. I guess i could keep working on it but but it might not be worth it.

Here is an update for the shield hanging in the sword maidens tree:

Just made a quick stencil and marked a stripe off with tape. One of the birds ended up a little off kilter but I can fix that with the brush I think. I just used the same stencil for the bird three times. Probably should have figured out a way to line them up or used clear stencil material maybe :) A little quick and dirty but really I just needed a template to start from.

Here it is after an hour or so of work last night. Moved the off kilter bird up a bit and cleaned up the feet. I am loving the new paint brushes.

Wondering if I should add a wing to the birds. I will have to play with it in photo shop.

Neat stuff, I think the termies came out well, slightly going out of liking red guns, like going for a more complementary colour. Base work is good Wapple has a good tute on marble. I started painting Draigo's arm bolter red and thought it stands out like borat in his bathers. So I painted it black, Hes coming a long nice I should have some pics of him soon, I have to say a bit more prep and it would look better picked him up of trademe and hes a bit crappy cast in places. nothing like a practice mini to "practice" on!

yeah haa! looking good, jelous my painting time will come. I found a cool looking orange/yellow power fist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYa_vJBl9Lg

The rocks are looking pretty good you could add a filter/glaze to the shadows of the rock and around the bottom to make it look taller and more defined. if you have any brown leaves that suit the scale chuck afew in there to soften it up,just my 2c. The mini is great especially love the hair. keep up the good work.

Okay I picked up some of the round lip 40mm bases from ebay. I will switch out the bottle cap for one of those. I am also sourcing some nice turned wood display plinths so we'll put her on one of those at least for the pictures.

I keep vacillating between wanting to start a major new project and wanting to paint less serious stuff. For now, less serious stuff is winning out. A while ago I picked up the GW Empire Duelists for like $12 in metal. I have a buddy who plays a character in our Dark Heresy (40k RPG) campaign that is loosely based on Midas Betancore from the Eisenhorn novels.

BTW if you can read, and you haven't read the Eisenhorn books you should stop what you are doing and read them RIGHT NOW. I would gladly recommend those novels to anyone that likes SciFi gamer or not.

So anyways, I got this beautiful Empire duelist fig and so what do I do with it? Convert it to 40K! Here is what I came up with:

Basically I just switched his matched flint locks for matched bolter pistols. I cut the clunky hammer off the back of the bolters to make them a little less massive. Holsters were obviously going to be totally ridiculous so I gave him a sword and a little pouch lifted from a SM scout box. In th esecond picture he is prayed with some red highlight and near black shadow. Going to paint him up in Red and Black Galvian Finery.

For the base I am going to have him standing on top of an inquisitorial seal, which has been an ongoing theme in our campaign. The more observant and worldly of you out there will recognize the Inquisitorial seal as being identical to the seal on a bottle of Tanqueray Gin, which has also been an ongoing theme in our campaigns :) Hopefully I can place his feet so the "T" looks more like an "I" but either way it should get some laughs at the table.

Hehe sounds fun, gin games with games! I like the conversion simple and looks good. I also like the Base idea Wapples latest bases and his cathederal look realy cool will it be a little like that?

I have looked up the local wood turning club and will be joining to get access to the lathes, my goal is to lean and "turn" (mawhaha) out some wooden plinths, so Im sure I will have plent practice ones that I could send your way. 1st Saturday of every month so stay tuned.

Speaking of Wappel some inspiration for ya!

http://wappellious.blogspot.ca/2014/04/this-is-heavy-but-is-slices-pretty-good.html

Careful, you're getting more than a few minis on the go at the same time there... ;)

Ah, well that solves that mystery.... The sword maiden is old Reaper. Hmm maybe I can enter her in another forum contest over there. LOL.

Zab you are right, I do have a couple of projects going right now. I really need to finish Dynis. But the sword maid will be done by the end of April so as long as I finish one a month I tell myself I am good. I am starting another ebay project as well... :( I picked up a DV hell brute for like $7 on teh ebayz. I figure with the new Hellbrute kit coming out I might be able to get a good price for a painted one.

When do you guys want to start the Rackham Dwarf Paint-a-long? I guess i should start a new thread?

. I already added some moss as they do in the second part of this tutorial:

Man do I owe you for that link! MV's moss method is exactly what a base I had been working on needed!
And it's solved a "problem" I had for a larger piece I've got in the works for Euro-Militaire.

Oh man it that ever addictive as well!
My lathe is sitting a bit neglected in my garage must go out once it gets a little warmer and make some sawdust, which I'm very good at.
