How on earth did you weather that shield? It looks unreal. The freehand is brilliant in its simplicity, but I've never seen old white wood painted so well.

Thanks!

Airbrushed some shadows on there. Cleaned it up with the regular brush. Flicked red and green paint at it and scrubbed it off with my thumb and saliva!

And here is an update on brutus:

That green growth thing is going to get toned way down. Or maybe even redone. Also my cellphone is on some kind of weird setting where it makes the paints look more smudgey then they are. He's kind of coming out NMM copper. I was really just going for ketchup and mayonnaise but I will take this :) I have been veering away from going all the way NMM but looking at this picture maybe I should just push the highlights all the way up.

Better than a kid in a candy shop! Nice score.
Hellbrute is looking great, I like the copper look push it. I like the stripes in the grey on his fist are you going to carry that through?

That's a great idea Canny, giving it almost a living metal feel undulating like muscle tone

The armor panels that the copper goes around: you should free hand a bunch of gibbering demonic faces onto it. I know it sounds like it may be tough to do, but it's really just a series of triangles. If you are interested I'll find the example of whatI mean. I thoughts of this because of the teeth I see on the right side.

Oh hell. Here it is. Tammy Haye:

Thanks everyone!

BFK, I don't think the chaos faces really work for this guy. I want the armor sort of simple so you get sucked into the veiny flesh. Of course the NMM is the shiniest looking thing right now so I am going to have to go back to the flesh and make it pop more.

The armor panels are getting highlighted up flesh tone and will have veins.

Got an hour or so in today and went after some higher highs and lower lows on the coppery NMM. I am getting there I think. I do see where I need to edge highlight along some of the outside of the armor panels. Kind of focused on the inside. The claw is coming out ver nice and it you can tell it is sculpted with NMM in mind. It has lots of little chinks and what not right where the light falls.

I went ahead and added a little green to the pale flesh and grey highlights to make it a little more Nurgly. I had really good luck adding a tiny bit of blue to the Sword Maiden's sword that I thought I would experiment with it here. I'll try and do a little more edge highlight on the copper and then move back to the flesh, I really want it pop.

Do you guys think I am on the right track? What about some (more) verdigris on the copper?

I have questions about the armpit growth thingy too. I feel confident doing a wash to fill in small crannies with dark over light but light over dark is not working out for me. Are there any tricks? I would love to have it black with a very subtle green inner glow but it might end up being bone with a violet wash...

And finally, what color am I supposed to paint the gun barrels and smoke stacks? Ultra rusty? Maybe real clean steel with bloody splotches?

TMM? Checkers? Glowing blue Crystals?

If your doing nurgle the gun barrels and exhausts would look better in rust with soot and smoke marks. Also more verdigris on the copper, skin tones looking great
