The NMM on the claw popped out at me right away, very amazing stuff. It actually drew me in to look closer at it and now I see the beautiful greys you did in the armor and the hint of green on the shoulder pads make this thing just pure awesome. It also helps that Im not looking at it on a little iphone too :p

I wouldn't do verdigris on the copper. Right know the contrast is awesome with the other colors and i would be afraid the verdigris would spoul the effect...what about making the stacks and gun ends copper with gpheavy verdigris and soot?

You need a grot with a razor blade to help him trim those armpit hairs though! Lol:D

Zab I love those pictures.

But, what if I just paint it more copper? Those barrels are certainly going to be easy and maybe that will sell everything else? and it will tie up that line from the claw through the face?

Hmm, that just leaves the chains... maybe the grot could be looting those too? He cold be dragging all that crap off the back of the base... nurglings maybe?

I was just wondering about Chrispy, weird. Also: AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! What are you doing?! He can't be all warped and super shiny! My sense of symmetry hurts so much...Chaos isn't shiny, well unless he's one of The Fopish Dandies AKA The Emperor's Children ;)

Finally got a decent paint session in!

I sorted of got bogged down on brutus and then everyone wanted to paint Dwarves and Orcs together so I got a little distracted but bruty is back and I think I will be able to finish him by the end of the month! i am really glad because I was seriously thinking about throwing him back in the closet :(

I got his stacks basically done and his multiple eyes pretty well knocked out. I also finally figured out a scheme for all the hoses on his back and what not. Also I decided to cop out on the growth thing and just paint it black with some gloss varnish over it, works for me. Check it out:

I ordered one of these sets from Dick Blick:

http://www.dickblick.com/items/00628-2069/

It is a sampler of heavy acrylic mediums. I am hoping I can build up some translucent layers on his skin to add some depth for more veins. I also am dying to try out some water effects type stuff.

I also picked up some Merlins Magic Dental plaster. It is really neat it pours with the consistency of heavy cream and sets hard like rock almost as tough as resin. I poured a little over bruty's base to simulate the flowing lava. I had been using drywall compound but the results were very inconsistent. I got it from the Merlin's Magic Store and the guy was very cool. $20 for 5 lbs. about... not cheap, but 5 lbs. should get me through the next couple of years.

I guess if i can't paint I can still shop and hassle people here on the forum :)

oww I will have to see what I can find thats similar here. I brought some re meltable rubber that you can cast with, only comes in 1/2kg so have a fair but to make moulds and this plaster looks great.

I got my acrylic gels and they are pretty neat. Definitely a nice addition to the tool chest. I will post some pictures up of what it looks like on the skin once I get my photo station set-up. Cell phone camera is not up to it.

I have also started on bruty's base. Had some fun doing my lava but....

That is like some serious Combat Rock. By which I mean it Clashes....BAD!

So I think I am going to do toxic green lava. I will try and keep it small and throw in a bunch of grey to tone it down...

Thoughts?

I like the toxic idea check out mini girls youtube viedos she does one with dropping nail polish into water and then dipping the bases - it was crazy- might be a good idea for your needs.

Great stuff :) I think the lava will work great.

Thanks, TheVanusTemple, I am honored to receive your first post. Let me know if you need any pointers or help, except maybe on color theory. :)

Zab, I have applied some crackle medium and am going forward with green. I have also crossed the line from "this mini is going to be awesome" to "get this thing the f#$% off my desk" s that is motivating me to, you know, finish up.

I have also made some progress on your's and Canny's rackham bases! Should post pics this week!

Digga, I love you man, but that looks like 3 burnt chicken McNuggets floating in ketchup and mustard.

Hilarious description. Three burnt nuggets, huh? A couple things. The lava base is very nice. It looks great, appears like real lava on real lava rocks, which is the point. But you are right that it clashes with the mini. Toxic sludge WILL be more fitting. Just don't beat yourself up for the lava cuz it looks good.
