Wow dude, so far your painting impresses. Take a look at SkelletetS' numerous short WIPs on banners for ideas on painting 2D.
I also find THIS extremely helpful for banner freehands. I plan to pretty much steal this guy's frame for the banner. http://www.coolminiornot.com/265020?browseid=11978047
But it doesn't seem like you need much help. And yeah, banners are a great way of turning an 8 into a 9. It generally persuades me...

I did do enough research to make sure I got the right KD fig guys...
Anyways, here is an update on the banner. There is more red on the skin in real life. This picture has some glare too. I have a feeling this project is going to be tough to photo :/
Painting the banner is challenging, because of how small it is, but some parts are easier than a 3D painting, I guess because you don't have to look at the gradients from different angles or worry about flowing paint into crevices or whatever.

Sorry about that, you just seemed unsure. Figured it wasn't a coincidence. Either way, the freehand is amazing! How's your Photoshop skills? Glare can be fixed.
