Distractions are fun! Last night I was watching a movie and all of a sudden got a desire to make the Chaplain on the cover of the Codex. A few hours later, and he was 90% done. The base was done today after class and I\'m still debating whether or not I can do a mini iron halo out of plasticard for the Crozius. I\'ve tried 3 times so far and it\'s INSANELY hard.

I might also try to find some lamp looking thingamies for his backpack. Black Templars maybe?

Anyway here\'s the pics:

great conversion work on that chap! :D
to get those lamps I think that black templars would be your greatest possibility to find it.
otherwise you can allways scratch build ^^

I\'ve had enough fun with plasticard for one day :D

Also had enough visiting friends in hospitals for one day (can\'t stand the places).

Also had enough discussing custom orders of Chessex dice orders for one day. Gaming club dice, custom army dice, etc. Fun with color combinations and line art designs :D

From what I see now you are about to build a staggering army, I like the green you want to take more then the traditional green, and what you have done so far on the master also looks very good.

Looks great so far Dan, I really like what you\'ve done with the Chaplain. Greens looks great, can\'t wait to see more of of these guys. I\'m not sure but I think I may have an iron halo sitting around at home... one of the termintor ones with the skull in it. I\'ll have a look see when I get home.

I\'ve been playing with plasticard a lot lately and I\'m finding its a bit more difficult to acheive the results some others on this site do. Just curious where do you get your plasticard around here (I picked mine up from Comex in Kingsway)?

I got mine from Kites and Other Delights in West Ed, they had a nice variety pack type thing with a sheet of .25, .5 and 1mm plasticard for like $4 or something. Not bad for variety. Got a few I-beam and plastic rod types for various uses as well.

Anyway I appreciate you looking for the Termi Iron Halo, I have a ton of them lying around and they don\'t fit in the little gap very well. The skull is too thick. I think I\'m stuck modifying the one he came with but I think I know how to do it.

Anyhoo, no updates for today, maybe later tonight or this weekend. We\'ll see how things go re: actual social interaction :D

OK got a bit of work done over the weekend... didn\'t do nearly as much work the last couple of days as I would have liked to, I have a friend in the hospital who obviously takes priority over anything hobby related at the moment.

In the little bit of time I did have to devote to the hobby the last couple of days I advanced the Chaplain conversion a little bit. The guy in the picture has a massive black cloak blowing in the breeze, and I have brutally (and painfully, see the blood on the model in the picture!) removed the quiver from a Wood Elf cape, tattered the edges somewhat, and carved it up to fit on the back of the Chappie.

It looks good on there I think, it really fits the flow of the model perfectly and the folds even fit around the big lantern thing on his belt. Purely by chance, but I\'ll take it!

I\'ve also planned out what exactly I\'m gonna do to convert all the bikers in the Ravenwing squads... the little foot plate thingies under their feet will be modified, the bolters will be painstakingly swapped out for converted current style MkIV bolters, and the Sergeants will all get de-Chaosified Chaos bikes. They have a different set of front forks, exhaust, engine and tank designs so it should be fun to have them stand out a bit. The main difference is the front end obviously, they don\'t have fenders.

One of these Sergeants will be converted to look like the guy in the Codex... I\'m sure it\'s the picture that inspires all the Harley style conversions you see being done. No front fender, drum fed bolters instead of clips, and he has a wicked flag instead of the big feathered thing stuck behind his seat. Should be fun!

Wow. That wood elf cloak looks absolutely perfect there... For the lamps on the backpack could you not use converted versions of the one hanging from his cloak?

I know all to well the pain of some conversions, I think I\'ve developed some sort of anti knife padding on my fingers, and my recent experiments with barbed wire have put a few holes in my finger tips...

Heh I have some wicked good calluses usually, I nicked a finger on the knuckle somehow the other day and that\'s how I got a bit of blood on the mini.

Anyway I don\'t have another 2 of those thingies to hack up for lamps. I\'d either have to try and get some from another local gamer or switch to something Templar :(

If you are still looking for the lamps on the backpack , you should look into some of the Witch Hunter stuff, though they look more like torches. The SOB Canoness Backpack has a really nice looking one, and the inferno pistol on one of the female inquisitors might suit your needs except for it might run you a couple of bucks to getting a hold of them. If not, I would definately go with the Black Templar bits...

i cracked open a few boxes of dark angel veterans last night and noticed a bit that would be usefull to you. there is a piece that looks like 2 lanterns from the codex cover chaplains backpack. they are stuck togeather but look as though they may cut apart rather easily.

I\'ve thought about it, but I don\'t think I can cut them up and spare both sides. So I\'d be committing all of my holy hand grenades to one backpack (must\'ve stolen them from the Templar armory). Anyway I might have to do an order from BattleWagon to get some of those kinds of tiny bits that you don\'t want to order entire sprues to get :p

<edit> Holy crap that part of the sprue is cheap... and it\'s really quite good stuff on there too. Very interesting... </edit>
