Jericho\'s Dark Angel (and various side-projects) project log

Great stuff, the grey cloaks really work well and the purpley brownish shading is something I must get round to trying (...ok, nicking!)

That chaplain is awesome, I read the 2nd page of this thread first and instantly recognised him as the codex cover chap!

I\'m glad it\'s obvious, it was fun trying to come up with ways of making it as close as possible without spending a ton of money on bits or sculpting much myself :D

Instead of finishing either of the many projects I have going tonight, I got a lot of work done on a Dreadnought conversion that might not even see the army list ever. It\'s basically a Sentinel with a ton of bits and plasticard, its basic design is taken from the Vulture omnimech. I need a friggin Forgeworld Mortis Dreadnought missile launcher arm though, since my original plan for the rockets wasn\'t gonna work. So it\'ll take a long time to be finished... like everything I do!

I\'ll try to take a picture once the main hull piece is finished... currently the two side plates are done and the braces are in place to glue on the top/front/back panels. Then it\'s piling on the bits I\'ve got picked out, figuring out how to armor up the thighs of this beast, and I should be good to go.

Before you ask, yeah I\'m nuts :p

That would be awesome since these sprues are pretty hard to come by at the moment. I can\'t thank you enough Iain :)

I\'ll PM you right after I hit the reply button here.

umm, where is the arm for the plasma pistol from. (Since you nicked some stuff from templars, its only right they get something back!):]

Just a thought, and I know youve kind of gone off the idea of using the halo bit, but if you had a dremel or similar high speed tool, or a decent set of small files you could trim the larger side down to the same size?

And speaking of good injuries and getting blood on things, you can get little packs of bits for rotary tools, and one I got had a nice little saw blade in it, which chews straight through just about anything you aim it at, including plastic, metal, wood, and fingers really, really, REALLLY well:(

The metal arm is from the Asmodai figure, I really like the shoulder pad with a skull inside a halo. I had one sitting around for ages since I used the Asmodai body for a Salamanders Chappie conversion back in the day. The pistol itself is the same one off a myriad of Marine sprues these days.

Anyway I\'m sure I\'ll turn my attentions back to the halo sooner or later. I\'ll put the halo from the Termi Chaplain on the flat bar bottom bit of this dude\'s halo. Stupid amount of work for a slight miscast, but it\'ll be fine.

Anyway I\'ll hopefully get a start on the Chaplain paintjob right away, I\'ll take pics when I get something worth posting :D

just to let you know, your not the only one with a wonky halo, me and 5 others at my work who bought the big box set all have wonky halo\'s. i think it must be a scuplting problem.

Bugger, I hate when that happens...

Anyway I should be priming the Chaplain in a few minutes, the cloak kept separate for ease of access to his backside. I\'ll glue it on before I paint the cloak, just to make sure I get the lighting right on it.

I\'m also tempted to try some OSL on this guy... I hate OSL on bright minis but since he\'ll be primarily black and grey anyway I figure some light coming off his lanterns will be a good idea. I\'ll have a better idea of how this will work once he\'s primed and I take a real good look at where light would be cast onto him.

What\'s White Dwarf Day? If it\'s got anything to do with the magazine, I probably missed it. I haven\'t paid for a WD in years, the vast majority of my collection being from the years I worked there and got it for free :D

Anyway I will try and be there Saturday, hopefully everyone can make it this time for some gaming/painting/vegetating.

That Chaplain looks cool. Always liked the old cover the of the codex! The new one is even better and you chaplain rocks.
Just one thing. The frock looks strange to me, coz the wind blows it in a differnt direction then it blows the cape and the seal.
BTW: Checked my BT bitz...maybe this peice could help you to build those lanterns on the chaplains backpack:

I really like the way the wind direction and the mini\'s direction of focus are the same... like his intention is so strong that the wind itself is following him. (okay, a little ott)

Great artistic composition.

Don\'t give me too much credit, I\'m just trying to copy the painting lol

Anyway he\'s got some paint on him... I definitely need to rework a couple areas on him I think. The robes gave me more trouble than I expected, and I expected a bit because plastic robes never paint as easily as metal ones.

I totally forgot to paint the eyes too. I really should\'ve done them before the mask... oh well :p Hopefully he\'ll come around a bit better once I get to tweak the robes and do some more work on the guy.
