Thanks for advice, have tested it and it looks much better, need to work some more on it, hopefully some more pictures tommrow or later this evening.

Great start mate, I'm not the best at freehand you really need Skel or Milosh.
I would darken the sky with blacks & blues to get a greater divide between the mountains.

Ok, time to lay down the brush for today. posting the small changes since last time to show that the mountains now are more visable. Have made many glazes with blue colours to make a bigger diffrent between mountains and sky. Thanks ten ball.

comments and suggestions are welcomed, there properbly is a lot of tricks and tips that you have for me.

For the base later on, I have a plan too paint water that reflets the stone and part of the farseer. I think after painting that I will put one small layer of water effect on top. Will try this out on another figure before proseeding with this one...

Oh! Super cool! I have been really wanting to try out your star field Article. Keep pushing that horizon on your mountains. They look cool. I might have taken the easy route and just painted them as a black silhouette

Have had some time last day and didn´t feel like doing fine detail work so I have revisited and older figure that is collecting dust. They problem I have is that I am not happy with the colour choices that I have made. Mostly the green for the armour I think. It should be nurgle inspired...

What too do to Save this miniature from not being painted? suggestions please, give some inspiration of changes that are needed.

The rust and the flesh look great. Why not just make him a pre-heresy colored Death Guard with dirty white armor and moss/olive green trim? That way you can go crazy with washes, oils and powders!

Mmmm I was thinking royal blue fade to green for the armor and a mix of the silver and gold trim. rust and flesh look verry good BTW. I have no idea lore wise if this works though.

Okay so not to get all crappy color theory but...

The red and green seem to work good together. Maybe the orange needs some blue? Then that blue can blend back to the green somewhere. So maybe shade some of the green with blue or blue/green. OR start putting some big nasty blue veins in the unpainted back skin a la sprockets veiny wings???"

I have been thinking alot about paining mine lately adn I think I am going to copy Andyg's Elephant good with the pink to grey on the soft bits.

Will try out hte blue to green part, also thinking to make the skin darker and not so light... will try out some blue to green first and see where it goes from there. Thanks for the suggestions, think that I will do as deminhuman taked about Andyys elephant good it mixes in more colour into the skin to give more interest. need to think about that too.

Thanks for comments.

Hi, have followed demihuman´s advice for veins. Thanks for suggestion.

Looked for a description on how to do it and found the following thread. http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums...aint-veins-on-a-miniature&p=276743#post276743

Also know that Sproket and Skel have done simular skin veins and since they are very good painters I would suggest to go the WIP they have also for anyone that is interested. below is the start of the skin and veins, need to paint over with the skin colour a couple of times for it to blend in more and perhaps make some veins darker.

Hhhmmm... with spacescapes like that I am starting to suspect you might actually be James Wappel in disguise. In fact, isn't it weird how we never see you guys together in the same place? :suspicious:

I just want to share you one of the sites that I have found that was new too me. I guess a lot of you already know of it. In any case here it is.

Look up reapers " art of the craft" ,"let it flow" ann foerester will take you through how you can and what each consistancy (highlight, shadows etc) looks like visually. All by using(water , paint retardent , and flow improver. ) she will demonstrate what each looks like visually by displaying how smoothly it drops down the side of a well palette as well as some other visual tricks like the edges of the rim of thinned paint should be so what transparent for example for a highlight /layering consistancy. Take a look because to improve the thinning of paint and how it applies to a model is the first basic skill that if mastered goes a long way. Good work on your malfaux take the contrast a lil bit darker for the shadowing and you'll see a big improvement. Another tip I give to my students is shade with complimentary cool tones and highlight with warm. Cool (purples, blues , blue greens, ) warm(not so much yellow but a yellow brown white or a cream or beige. Eg bleached bone screaming skull .
