enough excuses, paint paint paaaaiiint ;)

Ehh well, yeah... but how... ahh well have a wall that needs painting and the other half wants it done... I guess that is the painting for me :)

BTW are you entering anything into the fang competition?

i am really torn in entering the fang, but at least they changed their wierd rule "you cant enter anything that have been in a golden demon/fang contest before" into ""you cant enter anything that have won in a golden demon/fang contest before" which make more sense and open it up a bit more for me. I probably enter some older stuff, like the rat and toad duel, but im saving my latest work for ukgd/otherGDifthereisany.

also, the idea about GW-gothenburg sending my stuff by mail to stockholm isnt that exciting. :tremble!:

Suggestion, take it yourself to Stockholm, make a stop in Västerås and sleep over here if you want to. I will go by car to Stockholm too look at the competition and perhaps enter something. that is if there is time after paiting things in the house is ready... :).

I like where you are going on those exhausts. Also, I feel your pain. I had to restore my whole basement last year after a flood in July. Took me 3 months :( Sadly painting walls is poor practice for painting minis and even worse when the wife says no to freehand and uber cool murals -_- Stay strong! :brushwave:

Mawhahaha freehand murals, I can imagin that on the out side of our house! . . .not says my wife.
I realy think the top exhaust is coming up great, keep it up for the 2nd and you will have a cool mini!
Im no expert but I will offer my 2c, make the line between the light and dark even lighter and soften the black a bit more on the lower side of the exhaust.
The purple is going to look cool, its a nice start.

Hey, the exhausts look great! Maybe throw in the touch of color on the bottom half to look like reflected ground. Blue or warm brown will look good depending on the environment.

Next pic not so much done, but have decided some things. I will make my first diorma with this. Hopefully ready for Fang comp. Will be a duel.. with two bikes one done in NMM and the other one using metals and some more weathering. The base will be simple a road that is almost new on one side and looking very old on the other side.

Picture below on some progress and start of the true metal one.

sounds cool, oc, but I think the staff at GW-GBG would be very displeased if i went competing just in stockholm. there is a serious lack of display-painters in gothernburg you know :/ i think i enter enyway, hotting up my old rat for the contest.

Update of failure too produce what I want. The NMM works ok, but I dont get the purple and orange to work. tried to do the purple looking like metalics also on one part to experiment, highlight of purple looks awful also didnt work out.The orange I cant get the highlight to be brigther without it looking bad and also not happy with shadow part... Any suggestions would be appriciated.

Well one more update today, instead of thinking too much about the purple and orange i tried out some freehand. It is coming along and I am really learning a lot by experimenting. very very dificult for me thou to paint freehand. I have had no skill at all with drawings before so it is a lot of struggle to get it decent looking. Not finished yet thou and more work needed.

The main difficultys I have is that the colour dries on the brush to quickly, now using a slow dry medium, helps some, the other parts is that my skill stops me from geting things symetrical on two sides :) well just practise there to get it better. I also beliver that the "blue" fire part is to strong and you dont get a feeling that he has a top head part at the moment. Need to define that "head" some more to get it too look better I believe.

Keep at the freehand. Don't get discouraged. I think the blue flames look great. You just need to define the lower part of the face more. Glaze it up! There is a very good tutorial on free hands like the one you are attempting in a recent Portal magazine. I'll provide the link if you want. Keep using the retarder, but also keep in mind a few things. Don't dilute like normal. You want to dilute it some, but overdoing it like your normal glazes will make ur FH come out too faint. I would just barely add water. I've tried other mediums when freehanding, and they seem to hurt more than help. Load up your brush-hopefully a size one- and make sure u keep most of the paint in the brush's pot. Barely wipe off the brush on a paper towel, and when you do so, wipe from the ferrule to about midway up the brush. This will keep the paint at the tip and ready to pour out. Wipe the excess off of the tip too though, u don't want it to pool everywhere. Just don't be too aggressive here-leave enough on the brush to be able to FH.

With the purple, you may want to think about highlighting it with reds/(strong) pinks/white and using cooler colors in the shadows. Purple metallics can jump all over the place depending upon what type of light is hitting it, as purple will not absorb red and blue light, so depending upon the purple, if you have sunlight hitting it, it's probably going to throw back a lot more red than blue.

Dude, that is some solid freehand. The blue looks great. These guys are going to be over the top so just keep pushing it. Plus that area is going to be pretty hard to see once you finish assembly.
