Normally I would go that way also, this is just a test for the farseer base too know how to handle the water stuff and not destroy that base. Will make that one similar to this one and hope that it becomes good.

But I agree it would have been better with a rock in the same colour too "really" see the result and better judge if I should use this method.

I believe that I have finished the water part of the Farseer. I ended up using the Vallejo water effect in 3 layers that was made clear before next layer was applied. after some experimenting I have painted white on top of the waves and some areas directly. I choose not to add it into the water effect for two reasons. I didn't get the result that I wanted and it was hard to control the application into the base.

Below two pictures from the result one of them a close up to see the results.

WHOA that's awesome! Im planning something like this for Demi's dwarf base, little Q is water effect same as realistic water?

What i use is in the link below, It is a heavy body gel, that I have applied with a dry brush and not to thick layers. I have doted it on to create different "wave" patterns. (I think it is the bottle called Water Texture, I have an earlier version I believe and it says water effects on my bottle.) I am using a medium that dries to a clear surface.

The "depth" of the water is created by painting before the water effect was applied, see earlier picture in WIP.

Cool thanks K, something to look forward to testing myself.
Im going to try silicon as well as the gel, I found a link that looks pretty good with silicon and I some in the workshop so that will be my 1st test.

Actually I believe that is the link i used to get inspiration on how to apply my water :), instead I stippled it

I believe you can do that if you build them over time and dry in between applications. Also look at the link that Canny provided, that person uses a silicon for bathrooms and it also seem to have a similar way too work with, just much cheaper.

water looks super, cloth looks great but could use a bit of refinement here and there (the lightest parts on the blue cloak are really sudden).

And I see a lot of work for the gold parts. They look yellow and not enough contrast for metal parts. Of course if it's not Gold you are after, then please ignore this part.

For your gold, shade towards the spine if those rib like pieces. So shades on the inside, using a black wash. Do not go overboard and apply too much. Just slightly darken it. Keep that yellow as a midtone, then towards the outer edges of the ribs use a mix of white and yellow, with specular dots of white here and there. Make the pure white tiny though. And if you mess this or any part up that is just a small area, the best tip I may have ever received was that you can chew up a mtachstick or a toothpick and gently rub away mistakes without affecting other layers. Hmmm now who taught me that trick....

I bought some of the same water effects not too long ago, though it is the Mediterranean tone. I was actually going to threw the stuff away until I just saw your water base. Awesome job man. I've tested a few things with it and I didn't understand the point at all. To me it was like a blue colored PVA glue. You say it dries pretty clear if you dry brush it? I didn't try to DB it, but it definitely wasn't clear. What do you mean you stipled? Could you be more specific on exactly how you accomplished the base, SBS? Thanks brother!
