Hi Sturmhalo! I agree with everything you said, but I wish you had read the original post \'cos i don\'t want to be accused of starting threads along the lines of. \"How old are you?\", \"What time is it there?\", \"What\'s your favourite colour?\", \"Do you prefer the Judaen Popular Front to the Popular Front for Judaea?\" type post. (Apologies to non Python fans!)

Basically, what I was trying gently to encourage was for people to add their location to their personal profile so that it would show up on their posts. I know it doesn\'t really matter, but it is nice sometimes to know where people are from, even if it\'s just to avoid cockney rhyming slang when replying to their postslol

I could be seriously tempted! I love Cardiff and actually stayed there for a while in the early 80\'s as Fords sent me to their Treforest spark plug plant. I have never been invited to so many houses, been to so many parties and been so drunk! Even University was tame by comparison.lol

Back to location reality(! ) I\'m a Geordie (born in Newcastle upon Tyne for those that don\'t know) and am happily living in exile in Bolton, having relocated from Blackpool. And just to confuse things I work in Birkenhead, Merseyside.

Of course the answer is that the dyke was not built by an English Kingdom at all, but rather a tribal lord called Mercia... all a little earlier than the old English stuff And rather than a tool to keep them in (would never have worked) it acted more as a statement. I CAN BUILD BIG DYKES, SO I\'M POWERFUL he would have shouted. But then the obvious point is that if he was so powerful, why did he need to build a dyke! It\'s all interesting stuff indeed!
