yes, they have forsaken their roots, it appears. What just drives me absolutely bonkers is their strict denial of all things not GW. If I played, I would probably do it in a GW store, but if I want to make my unit of barbarians look cooler by adding some non-GW minis into their ranks, I shouldn't be told to remove the minis or myself from the store. They get waaay over zealous with this too. I saw this GW clone tell a man he couldn't use a certain mini because the flock wasn't GW.

And then they charge outrageous amounts for their literature, which is the worst crime. To play with Chaos Dwarfs at my local GW, you have to show up with a copy of the Throne of Chaos book. I believe it's like $90. I pirated it and put it on my Kindle. The clone wouldn't let me use this, even though she has no way of telling if it is a legitimate copy or not. Because it could be pirated, she denies the use of Ebooks. I promptly took my business elsewhere.

GW fears the competition, because they are forecasting their own demise.

They seem to be ignorant of competition.

There is a story on a forum, from a former GW staff member. At a store meeting years before, his newly appointed manager who had recently returned from a corporate brainwashing course, said that the new company line towards the veteran gamer, was to see them as dirty bathwater, that neede to be flushed out to make way for the new clean water, aka new customers.

Charming.

Question. There are actually 3 Warrior Priests out for GW. Also 10ball says there is a ForgeWorld WP, but I didn't see one on their website. Can we paint any of these or are we sticking to the model above?

They are all special order for me, but I will keep my ebay/trademe search going and if I no find one I will have to order it.
Actually I will get some one to order it for me at its $35NZ - 17.87 Pounds almost 8 quid more expensive (almost 2 for the price of one!). maybe 4 pound shipping to get it here and the kindness of someone :). So if I dont find a bargan and some one is going to order one at their local could they order 2 and I will paypal them some coin?

So crazy prices, Down with GW prices, but I do like some of their minis. I wonder about parallel imports, I bet you would get the slap down ASAP! Must control the world!

Look everybody knows that GW has made several big mistakes towards its customer base even me has a big gripe with taking away from arguably there biggest market or lets say second biggest in North America with the abrupt cancellation of games day and my favorite competitive grounds North American golden demon. And yeah they continue to go more and more south of bouncing back to all our good graces. But I don't even know how to play a game . I paint models and yes I'll continue to pay like most of you because we like their models bottom line. Even this last competition on line was an Orc shaman to point out. So it boils down to I don't have to depend personally on these people to save my life. Hell I don't even have to say hi to the many suits that run this corporate giant.what I do have is the choice to buy or not and like all of You I but them cause their kick ass at what they do and that's make great models .some of the best around. In addition in my eyes white dwarf started for me and will always be the greatest magazine in the world and I kindly would not want Andy to " wipe his ass" with my copy lol. Let me end by saying I do hope the get there act together but would it honestly affect me if they didn't ... The answer is no.

They sell cans of air for $13 CAD. The consumer in me hates them. The advertising/ marketing professional in me raises and evil eyebrow and says: Touche :sinister: And the mini painter in me just sees the cool sculpts and is like: What? They're cool man. Just buy them.

Touche?
To mis-quote a friend "They put the Ouch in Touché" or even "The Ouch in Touch".

I've bought a Savage Orc and a Librarian plastic kit from them in the last two years and that's about it. Before that oh...um...er. Yeah well. Not many of their recent sculpts do it for me TBH.

This is the FW warrior priest im on about. I was going to paint him soon anyway so I thought I could kill two birds with one stone with this fun competition, if everyone's ok with that?

well not like i have anything to do with this but using the forgeworld version while the others go for regular gw is a bit like using steriods in a body building competiton. i say foul, especially with all this money involved.

Nah more like toothpicks instead of chopsticks.

Woke up to this thread and it brought a smile to my face. My questions was-can I use an alternate Warrior Priest sculpt? And the unanimous answer from my good community of friends? We hate GW. You guys rock.

And Ten, I don't have a problem with it at all. I think it would be refreshing to see 4 different versions of the same idea. They are all about equal in terms of sculpting. They all include flowing robes, a few pieces of armor, a bald head. So the same basic skills are used on all. So, you have my blessing.

most importantly, this is supposed to be a fun time, right? No need to get too serious about it.

marjedi I am in FULL agreement with you on this lets be civil on a public forum. I know and emotions run high but hateful remarks are not becoming and really doesn't help any matter anyways. And lets be clear these disagreements I have are not towards any of my homeboys who share a diff view on cmon it's more just my 2 Lil cents on how I feel and disagree politely and sincerely.

Strong words come from strong emotions. I feel hurt by their dismissive practices towards long time customers like me, so sometimes I use strong words. I don't wish them harm but I can't pretend I don't have a touch of the " I told you so " syndrome towards them ;)

Oh boy. I was just remarking how it was funny to me that I asked a question and it was never answered but instead everyone found cause to go on an anti-GW tirade.

...which, BTW, my question remains unanswered. There are about 4 different warrior priests put out by GW/FW. Would everyone be okay with picking any of these, or are we sticking to the one because it was voted on? I totally agree with either scenario just want a couple VOTING MEMBERS opinions before I make a purchase....I know 10 is with me.

Also, how about this as a prize for the competition winner: all participants must put in their signature block that so and so is a better painter than them, and then provide a link to the winner's gallery/blog, whichever the winner chooses. So, if Zab wins, my signature block would say: "Zab is a better painter than me. www.zabsgallery.com". This would expire after 30 days. Sound cool?

I like this idea fun and easy. As for sculpt I don't mind. Already shelled out the $33 NZD for the great weapon but I also like the two handed one.
