Oxidation on NMM: examples?

Not as good as the Cyril Killer, I did a few. My
Ezalyth was a fairly successful expiriment in Brassy yellow verdigris.
Then my Morbid Puppets were done in a kind of old style blueish Rackham rust, which I detailed on my Nmm Article.
Course, those last couple were done when I was still struggling to paint better.. still am, but I\'m on another palteau of struggling..

Well, these are some bits of all the NMMs I did for my scratchbuilt troll, they\'re pretty big so you can see all the rust and so on. Hope this helps!

Albert, you have a very distinctive style that shows through all your works. Must be the very unusual and striking combination of green and purple, and those colours work surprizingly well together! Thank you for the link!

The pictures didn\'t turn out as well as i\'d hoped for a couple reason (the minis BIG... been having problem photographing him, poor lighting, and rushed photos) but you can see rusted metal on both of his boots. The bottom pictures turned out the best IMHO

Itchy, thanks for the photos. The thing is, you have the whole metallic part covered by a thick, non-transparent layer of rust. Which, I must admit, does look good. Still, I\'m trying to do something a little different: have a multiple-coloured rust (yellow, red, brown and orange tones), which would be transparent on the NMM. I tried glazing, but it takes the \"metallic\" colours of NMM away, turning the whole thing into some unidentified material, which looks a bit like copper.

Oops sorry. Don\'t think i can help you there. i\'ve tryed washes on NMM but they always ended up destroying the piece. Wish i was a better painter so i could help you more (working on it )
Well... that\'s partly true anyway. The green over the NMM copper, i think, loks good, but doing a brownish-red over the NMM steel has never worked for me. Ask Trevor... that\'s what i always do!lol

Right, he\'s using a metallic basecoat, but you could just as easily do it with a non-metallic. Secret seems to be lots of very diluted washes. I\'m sure there was an article purely devoted to the blade....

Spacemunkie, thanks for the link; the thing is, I found this article yesterday and tried to apply the technique to NMM. Now the problem is, with a metallic undercoat the metal still shines through the glazes and you can tell it\'s metal. With NMM, the glazes cover the greyish-metallic shade of the undercoat, killing all the highlights and basically colouring the surface with red, yellow and orange, so that it no longer looks metal.

cry havoc #2 has a article on painting rust over nmm...range from slight rust to heavy rust...three basic examples...plus the rest of the mag has some great fluff on the kaiber pass fortress, the war with the undead, different undead houses, and a whole new tribe of orcs...with some more goodies thrown in...oh, it\'s in english too, for those of us who\'s french is only good for cursing and ordering food...

And I was unable of finding any reference to the tutorial online Yet, one thing I forgot to mention about this whole oxydation-on-NMM matter: I\'m looking for a very heavy rusty effect, not just slight, which wouldn\'t be too difficult to paint.

too bad i don\'t have a scanner here...anyway, you just paint you blade as normal, and the just before you hit the pure white highlight stage, throw in your rust...step a: large spots of diluted red-black is applied(heaviest around bolts and joins) step b: with orange-brown the center of the spots are made lighter... step c: the center of the spots is then finished with a yolk yellow in small rings with a little darker spot in the middle...
see the weapons of the wolfen zombies on the online store for rackham...if you want even heavier rust see the dwarf chariot, or the black troll of the goblins(his anchor)...hope this helps...
